    hello all,

accumulating parts for a swap and i'm looking for double overdrive transmissions. what's out there in a double over? 13 speed would probably be good enough for what I'm doing but more important is the size of the transmission (need to keep it compact / small). would appreciate ideas.

    thanks

It's going in a medium duty truck, prob International 4700 or a Ford, haven't decided the truck yet but it will be powered by an International DT360. I know what I'm planning would be ok with a .73 gear ratio, not sure how to figure out if a steeper overdrive would work or not.

Define 'modern'? What years am I looking for when I go to the truck yard?

    Thanks

If you’re going into what I would consider a 2 ton chassis you should be able to use anything you want as long as you can get an sae #1 bell for that dt360. I don’t think a #2 is available for many of the trannys that are common (yes I can find out but let’s narrow things a little more first). I am thinking late 80s to current when I say modern. To my knowledge all of the rtlo 1xx13b transmissions are a double od. And I would consider that to be a good choice. Unless you want to get into the smaller stuff like a 6610 or 6613 ( which won’t help) all of the 13 speeds rated for 1850 and less torque are for talking purposes the same size and shape. As far as the rto6610, it with a #2 housing was a very nice setup in my 3/4 ton idi ford pickup back in the day. Yes it fit with only a 2 inch body lift…if I had modified the firewall and front of the transmission tunnel it would’ve fit without the lift.

It’s sitting here at my shop in the middle of nowhere Illinois
Unfortunately the engine took a dump and it hasn’t been on the road in a while
I don’t believe there’s any pictures/vids on the internet. It was several phones ago so I will probably have to go take some.

Still collecting info on double overdrive options. Needing to find a compact case with double overdrive - could be 9 speed, 10 speed, 13 speed, etc.

    Thanks!
