I agree. Sounds like your boss is too cheap to provide you proper equipment. Even load bars are not designed to support weight on top of them. Never mind the walls of most trailers don’t have the ribs to support it.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate and consider each and every comment. In any case in future I will use Load Straps as much as possible and at least one at the last Pallets closest to the Door. Also will work the "Fleet Manager" to get at least one 4X4 Load Bar to secure the top 2 Pallets when double stacked.
    Again thanks - W.T.K.

True but if the trailer wasn't sealed he's responsible. If it was, he's in the clear. He could use SLC on the BOL to cover his ### too.

Each trip I am building a Load and have to goto and pickup from different Suppliers. They all know me and nobody ever told me I could not watch the Loading Process and all allow me on their Dock.
    Thanks

    Those big square
bars are good if needed in front of the top pallets, if only single pallets are in front, to keep from falling forward. Otherwise they’re a PITA. A couple straps on back to keep you out of trouble should be good.

Thanks for your reply. I never used the big 4X4 Load Bars but I seen them at Dockside. Why are they a PITA, are they difficult to install ?
    Thanks

Just awkward. I’ve had 1 for almost 30 yrs. Sits in the garage. Someday I may find a use for it. Straps store nicely. Good to have plenty. I guess it depends on what you’re hauling.

Good to know. Not even sure if the Load Bars help so much because the Rail they would have to hock into is about (guessing) 5.6Ft up which is only 1.6 Ft above the bottom Pallet.

    Thanks

While it is very rare I am asked to pull a Reefer, it does happen now and again with a Reefer without Load securement provisions.
How do you secure a Load in a Reefer if there are no Rails to fasten a Strap too I wonder ?
    Thanks

Evidently you guys haven’t spent many hours in the LTL segment of the trucking industry, we double stacked freight all the time.
