I was told, backing up doubles is like pushing a chain,,:biggrin_25523:

You can back a set with practice. You just have to get your mind right. Steer it with lead trailer and slow

Grease, well greased 5th wheels always.

Dont spend to much time watching the pup bounce around.

They are called wiggle wagons for a reason.

    T.Rucker and TravR1 Thank this.

I would say that at least half the rigs I've seen rolled over on the interstate were pulling doubles

Scale every load every time, even if it doesn’t look like you need to. If the dolly axle and the rear trailer axle both individually scale heavier than the front trailer axle, they’re backwards, regardless of what’s printed on any manifest.

Otherwise, you’ll be noticing some loads being inexplicably more twitchy than others.

My problem around doubles lie in the single screw tractors.

A bit of snow? Get the chains out.

I hate pulling into rest areas at night to get a 30 done. I never know for sure if I'm going to be able to get out.

I drove into one of those picnic areas in TX to get some shut eye. When I woke up there was a Fedex double truck blocking my way out. Everyone was parked on the right side, the left side was left empty due to lack of room. But one Fedex linehaul didn't care.

I understand you drive overnight and sometimes you get really tired to the point you'll just take a parking spot anywhere, whatever you can get, you just need to get off the road. But if you are blocking a rest area or picnic area that just wont work. You get trucks trying to back out of the rest area going the wrong way on the off ramp.
