Hey double yellow. Just checking in on how things are going with your previous codriver. We were hoping things worked out. Ron and I really enjoy reading your posts. You have some great pointers. We are learning everyday. I just hope that the goof like we had recently only happens once. (RE: No proper Bill of Lading) Next time we might not be so fortunate. Take care and keep us updated. :biggrin_255:

Current codriver seems content for now. He had a talk with a "baby momma" that had been used to taking kids to the ER for every sniffle. I guess that wasnt a problem (for them) when on government assistance, but it was getting quite expensive now that he is earning enough to no longer qualify.

I spent the better part of last week holed up in a Super 8 with a nasty bacterial infection. Hit me at the tail end of a cold & spending the first two days trying to tough it out only made things worse. No pay for either driver is rough, and I payed extra for the motel just to sit in Air conditioned comfort with a short run to the bathroom.

I expected Covenant to try and prod me back to work after a day or two, but they were surprisingly supportive. Guess they know I want to be out there earning as much as they want me out there.

Only benefit to the whole ordeal is that I lost 10 lbs- we'll see if I can keep it off...

Sorry to hear about your illness. Sounds like you had a pretty rough go of it. #I often wonder about how the illness of ONE Team driver affects the other Team driver (not able to drive for whatever reason). Ron and I have been fortunate with good health with almost 8 months OTR under our belts now. It would seem with the inevitability of illness somewhere along the way, there would be provisions made for the driver. Especially since it is unsafe to drive in that condition and according to the FMCSA, section 392.3. "operating a cmv while ILL/fatigued" is a serious violation. The severity is 10 points on your CSA...Right up there with Texting and Driving. You were smart to shut down and recover. I would do exactly the same. It is good to hear that Covenant staff was supportive through your shutdown. It is obvious that you are a go getter and not a slacker. Just glad to hear you are back up and running.

Also, good to hear about your codriver
. Boy, I know all about the good ol medical govt assistance situation. I lived it for 17 years raising my children on my own. In the early years, it was actually financially better to make less and qualify for the full medical & childcare benefits. You either have to be content with making less, so your children are covered OR be able to bridge the financial gap by making a whole lot more. Our system is wacky in that respect.
But glad to hear you don't have to kiss another toad.
    :mooh:

Well, we are in Oregon by Snake River and just discussed the history of the Utter/Van Ornum Massacre. We have made it a habit to looking up these historical sites we pass. Very interesting stuff.

Ive been finally feeling 100% the last few days, but its just a shame the truck wont cooperate. We wasted all day saturday babysitting various repowered trailers in Gallup NM before bobtailing to the "nearby" dealership in Flagstaff. Of course by the time we got there, they were closed for the rest of the weekend. With 3 codes, no regen, & 1 gal coolant burned in the last 2000 miles, I'm betting on a multi-day repair.

WOW!!! That sounds like a ProStar International... :biggrin_25523: I drove one for 2 months and had 5 repairs on the road and took it back to company with a list of more problems, including codes, "engine warn", etc, etc.... What a piece of garbage. Now I'm back in a Freightliner. Almost a month and no problem so far... except for this stupid nanny-box, QC with electronic log... :biggrin_25510: Virtual keyboard not working right, buttons not working sometimes, have to reset it many times, call QC technical support.... Man!!! How I miss the good old QC and paper logs!

Hey Rocks! Am I understanding you? Do you have a wireless external keyboard? That is what I have.
Got tired of henpecking and fighting with the keyboard. To henpeck when you are a fluent typist is very frustrating. The external keyboard makes it a breeze.

In my 15+ years of driving, I've somehow managed to not ever drive a convertible (110 degree summers might have something to do with it). So in an attempt to make lemonaid out of the breakdown, I headed to Enterprise car rental and picked up their only vert for a trip to the grand canyon.

I took a lot of photos, but none do the canyon justice -- its just something you have to see in person.

I had planned to make a full trip through the park and also check out the crater monument on a big loop back, but about 1/3 of the way through Freightliner called and said the truck was ready. I was like "really?! are you sure?" and they said yep come on down. 3 hours later I'm back at the flagstaff dealer after returning my car 17 hours early. I load up my gear, turn the key on and see the warning lights still on & flashing. Take it for a quick drive and confirm it still limited to about half power and 55mph. Come back to the dealer and am able to initiate a regen, but the stop engine light then lights up. So it seems they fixed 1 of the 20 things wrong and called it good. And in typical Freightliner dealer fashion, they also managed to break more things in the process of "fixing" it -- in addition to that new "stop engine" light, now the power steering is out...

Not looking good for my scheduled thursday hometime...
