Wow, I thought I'm running on high rpms letting it hit 18-19 before dropping to 13-14 and backwards. That means I have not to worry then.
PS: my manual says "let rpms go down to 1200 before down shifting" though.Magoo1968 Thanks this. -
60 series is pretty much dead below 1400. They like the rpm's compared to the newer engines.Swine hauler Thanks this.

Yeah, 13 is the lowest I ever let it go to. 14 is kind of dead lock on torque though. Basically trying running it mostly at 13-17, or withing green spot, seams it does not complain. Love the engine.

Almost every newbie pushes the clutch too far. This engages the clutch brake. This causes RPMs to drop too fast, making it difficult to downshift. Use the least amount of clutch you can. I suggest just before you downshift you grab the gear shift lever and apply a little bit of push or pull by hand. Then when you want to downshift push the clutch and your slight hand pressure will cause the shift lever to fall into neutral. You will also notice how little clutch is necessary. ALMOST every newbie pushes the clutch AT LEAST half-way down. That could easily be twice as much clutch as needed.

Have no idea, why those newbees are not taught to shift without clutch to begin with.
ProfessionalNoticer, mustang190, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
OKAY. I Drove a 13 Speed For Awhile, Flat Lands, Hills, Loaded, Empty, Night, Day, No Problems.
South Of What?? I-20?? No "HILLS" On I-10, 'cept a few westbound after I-20 End Merge To El Paso, Texas.
WHAT?? Where Do You Drive?? Just Flat Land? How You Get Anywhere??
Some Hills Like On I-77 In West By God Virginia, Downshifting IS Required, Otherwise Quickly, Depending Upon GRADE and LOAD.
GRAVITY IS A DRAG.......or a SHOVE.
I Never Knew How To Downshift AND Upshift Simultaneously.
Loosing Speed = DOWNSHIFT.
Gaining = UPSHIFT or Simply Jump Gears.

The one that trained me taught double clutching on upshifts, but not downshifts. He said it was too complicated and nobody could get it.JolliRoger and tscottme Thank this.
-
He lied. Same thing as up shifting with only rev up step. Don't think anybody is not able to press gas pedal to bring rpms up to gear ratio to stick it in.
-
Apparently some people can’t, because that man did tell me nobody under his tutelage could get that right.
