Interesting how when someone is asking for help, or advice, there is always another nitwit wanting to be a comedian! But seeing Vancouver, WA..could be calling the real story about making the right turn..in that drivers world!
Lucky for the quoted driver, his question was well over a month ago, and not using this WA drivers instruction! Probably drives as well as he quotes others questions!Click to expand...Click to expand... -
Allow Me. said: ↑Downshifting isn't really necessary, the exception being pulling a hill or slowing to make a turn, knowing that you are going to pick up speed. But for approaching a stop sign/red light, you don't need to downshift. You're just doing too much work, needlessly.Click to expand...
You need to downshift a LITTLE at a redlight. It's hard on the brakes to not do it at all. If i'm in 10th gear, i just double down twice. 10th to 8th, 8th to 6th, and then stop.if i was making a turn on a green light, i'd either shift to 5th or double down to 4th. simple.
for the new drivers, for a double down you want to get your rpm around 800, then rev it to 15 and then put it in the gear you want, two gears away from where you are..otherhalftw, AtlantaTrucker and Baack Thank this. -

Are you kidding me!!!! On a ten speed, you should be in 5th gear or in 4th gear when in a 9/13 speed already when making a right. If you miss it or don't know how to downshift because you went to a 3 week class, if you are doing 10 to 15 mpg, just put the stick to the right hard rail push it forward and shallow clutch and i bet it drops into gear!!!

I'm new to trucking too and i drive a 10 speed. When I'm loaded and heavy i stay on 9th gear 1800rpms @ 55-60mph on the highway...is this safe to do or I'm stressing the truck too much?...at 10th gear it tends to lose rpms and speed on a little incline.

Exactly screw the four wheelers slow down early have the truck in the correct gear before the turn and stay in gear whenever possible so you are in controll of the truck
