the only one that had anything to do with dpf was 1625 and the guy at my company's shop said this was dpf full (the other codes had to do with cruise control and other things) thanks!

Hey-I don't know a whole lot about the dpf stuff.Just what i've learned having to deal with this truck. It plain and simple hates to idle.I push and hold the regen switch for 15-30 seconds, the idle bumps up and runs 30-60 minutes. When it's done, the idle goes back to normal. This is on a Cummins so your Detroit Diesel might work differently. As far as regen only when the light comes on,no one who works on these i've talked to has said that.A yellow light to me means do something.A red light means you should have done something. The more you idle, like over night, the more often you want to regen. On mine,if it doesn't need to regen it won't.

I don't think the "kinder, gentler politically correct world" says not to idle the dpf engine.Maybe they are the rason the system was designed.I'd much prefer a Cat 3406B if i were given a choice.I hope you get a good solution to this.I asked a lot of questions and tinkered with some ideas to get to where i can kinda live with the exhaust.Crushing it into a paperweight would satisty me.Take care.Brian

if you get DPF full code, pull over when truck is hot, push REGEN DPF button and wait till all the stuff out the muffler))) It would be like a small voulcano eruption... small Vesuvio

if you cant run regen, look for guy with DDDL and use DDDL software to activate regeneration

Hey thanks for all the help and advice. I guess i should feel lucky...dealer says clean or replace dpf after 300,000 miles and i got almost twice that. Now I know next time i need to take it in after 300,000 miles!

sometimes it is impossible to purge DPF. To cleane it solvents are used. DPF must be removed and cleaned. Solvents are flammable and poison.

really it helps, not kidding... but you can damage ceramics inside and DPF pressure sensor may read wrong backpressure, and you may fail smoke test
