yeah it looks like cummins dealer is going to pop it out and see if it can be cleaned. if not, they will replace. freightliner and detroit both said they can't or will not even attempt to clean it. we'll see what happens! either way it ain't cheap! :)

How much are they estimating ? About $800 for a cleaning, 4k for replacement just a guess.

I installed a 14" copper tune on my air blower. I drop the pipe from bottom of muffler and stick the blower inside the muffler and blow it out real good. Tons of soot will come out so wear a mask. We had about 60 trucks that idled quite a bit at the harbor and blowing them out when the dpf light came on seemed to do the trick along with a forced regen and resetting codes.

$800 for cleaning but the replacement was more complicated.... Cummins said their filters were $1800 plus 4-5 hours labor but I had a couple different freightliner dealers tell me the filters are only $850. Cummins said they find it hard to believe a filter was only $850. I'll hope mine can be cleaned and cross the replacement bridge when I come to it! :)

Are you talking egr or dpf? (Aren't there some trucks that have egr without dpf?) If you're talking about dpf, I was told to have the filter cleaned about every 250,000 miles or so. Mine went 550,000. Next time around I'll try to catch it earlier :)

I only wish I was mechanically inclined enough to pull off something like that :) I'd probably screw things up or poison myself

We have a 2012 Cascadia with a DD15... Our two amber check engine list came on and a dash codes of EEC61 / 4354 SPN / FAIL 4 / FAULE 1 ... We have 340K miles on the truck.

The lights have since gone off (thank you Lord) but we are still going to take it in ... I'm assuming that its the DEF/DPF stuff...

I have noticed that our fuel mileage has gone to heck in a handbasket... I'm hoping dealing with one, will help the other!!

Huh, that's weird about the fuel mileage, at least to me. With all the weird stuff ive had happen with the dpf ive never had an issue with fuel mileage. Hey when you get it fixed let me know what it was, ok? thanks!

Will do... I'm hoping the fuel mileage will be fix with the DEFstuff... Or maybe it's the really cold weather we went through (negative numbers type cold)... If not, then something else is going on... :(
