Myself, I couldn't care less about the dimwit tailgating me, unless it's another big truck. I drive a chipbox, ever see the bumper on the rear of one of those? I don't know exactly how strong it is, but just figure if it can hold a 135k truck on a tipper without bending, it just might damage a fourwheeler a little beyond repair. Oh well for them.

 

A lil FYI too: They draw attention from the bears, logic being you're speeding and he's hiding in your shadow to duck the bears.

You blow a tire and cover them with gator, they will likely sue your carrier...... sorry but I've seen it before.

Foot off deceleration is the way to dispose of the pest IMO......

 

I will tap the breaks a couple of times just to make the lights come on. If that doesn't work, I slow down until they pass.

 

Many years ago my brother kept a CB in his car which actually saved him once... Was in the middle of no where and had neglected to get fuel. Had a truck in front of him, asked him if he could draft on his trailer so he could make it to a gas station... The guy was good about it but said "just dont ###### hit me" lol...

In today's world I would NEVER trust a 4-wheeler to ride that tight on me but it does work REALLY well so people try on their own I think... Others are simply morons who don't understand safe following distances

 

OTHERS are simply morons ?? EVERYBODY following that close is a moron . Trying to save gas doesn't reduce required braking distance .

 

I figure they can out brake me, it's their responsiblity, and there isn't much I can do about it anyway.

Short of installing a chaff-dispensor or paintball gun back there,,, heh heh heh

You do want to get rid of them. Slowing down works the best but if they keep staying there hitting the brake light a couple of times may work. If all else fails take a break and if they follow you in go talk with them. Tell them how dangerous it is. If they become asinine then just tell them the next time they are going under your bumper when you have an emergency stop.

 

Yes, they can stop faster than you. But, they also can't see around you, so you get a couple seconds head start on the brakes. Plenty of time for them to hit you before they even know what happened.
