Polos are ok too. As far as button up shirts just think of what's called a sport shirt. Go to Penny's or Sears and ask the salesperson. Just stay away from wild prints and weird colors or fabrics that might change color when they get wet (underarm stains anyone?)
Here's your tip for the day. If it's a small company go hang out front when the people are coming to work. If they don't wear uniforms try to copy what the majority of the employees are wearing. Maybe not the colors but try to copy the style.
