Do all these semis drive like a Worn out 1972 Pinto?
The truck I drove for school was a old worn out Columbia. Enough said there.
1st company truck hauling milk was a 680 Kenworth with 250,000 on it.
It was all over the road.
Current company truck is a Western Star 4900 SB with 250 on it and new steers.
Loaded it's not bad but you are still fighting the sloshing in the tank so that is a constant fight with the wheel.
Empty it is a fight to maintain a lane.
I fill the fuel tanks and slide the fifth wheel all the way forward and that makes it drivable but it is still a chore.
Picked up my old 97 International last week with 1117500 on it and square steers and it drove bad but it wasn't any worse than my company Western Star.
First thing on the International is new steers and front shocks and close inspection of steering components.
So back to my original question..
Do all these trucks handle like Krap because of the outdated straight axles.? -
My old 92 western Star handled so good it was like driving a sports car. ( vs other trucks ) .I guess you get used to a Truck. I only notice when I get in car after I’ve been out a while.Wife says I drive like a maniac all of a sudden in a 4 wheeler!!! I guess I’m just not letting them run circles around me like in Truck. No mercy on idiots!! Really I’m very safe. Easy to pick up bad habits like driving slow in 4 wheeler after a week in Truck.Shocks make a big difference in handling along w tires ofcourse. All the integral sleeper models seem to float and sway a lot.
tommymonza Thanks this.
