look into a soft hitch. they clamp to bumpers or walk in trucks. I am not sure if that is the technical name or not but that is how I have always known them.

Thought I'd compile a list of all the driveaway companies I've heard about here and found on Google. Now, most of these haven't been researched by me, so make sure you research a company before deciding to join it. Here's the list:

    www.mamotransportation.com
    www.truckmovers.com
    www.teamdriveaway.com
www.jjdriveaway.com (might be class A only, can anyone confirm or deny?)
    www.qualitydriveaway.com
    www.drive-star.com (requires border-crossing experience)
    www.spiritmiller.com
    www.spiritmillerne.com
    www.bennettdriveawayservices.com
    www.driveforunimark.com
    www.autodriveaway.com (automobiles and recreational vehicles)
    www.activetransport.com (class A drivers only)
    www.pinnacletransportation.com
    www.autotrucktransport.com (class A drivers only)
    www.rrdriveaway.com
    www.safeway-drive-away.com

If anyone knows of any others, post 'em and I'll add 'em to the list.

Pinnacle auto transports web site is not much to speak of.

They weren't "going the extra mile" when they designed their web site.:biggrin_25523:

I know, book by the cover and all.

    Anyone know about them?

OH, SlickLizard, nice move with the list!

I will put that to use in the next few days!

I did see and applied to Auto Truck Transport a few hours ago.

I liked the paid hotel, flight and bennifits they offered.

It has to be a forced dispatch company though (I can see that they din't want you to work 2 or 3 days a week and still get medical) and no mention of how many days/miles they expect you to be out.

It looks like it's primarily delivering stacked new trucks so you have to take tools with you for seperation/reassembly and don't know about getting the tools to and through the airport without a hand dolly to drag them around.

    Here is their pitch.
[h=2]No waiting around[/h] We are confident you will find the truck transport segment of our industry a truly unique opportunity, even a culture change. No more warehouses, steel mills or sitting around truck stops waiting on the next load.
[h=2]Simple return travel[/h] ATT is different than other driving jobs. Because you deliver the trucks you drive, you will need return transportation. When you deliver your load, we will fly you either back to your home terminal or to one of our other terminals for backhaul. You may also get a back haul to your home area.
Air travel is made simple today with the use of electronic tickets instead of paper tickets. All you have to do is show a picture ID at the ticket counter, receive a boarding pass and you are on your way to the gate. A special bonus is that you keep all the frequent flyer miles!
[h=2]Lodging[/h] Motel accomodations are provided while on the road. You will carry a corporate lodging motel directory and credit card to pay for your room.
[h=2]Benefits[/h] We are a union carrier with top pay and benefits. Retirement pension is provided as well as full medical benefits for the entire family with no contribution from the employee. Medical Benefits go into effect after 30-days of employment. Also provided are annual safety bonuses, 10 paid holidays plus 1 personal day, and paid vacation.

Coldiron you might take a look at, they have a option to buy a special trailer for your toad and they claim it to be a good money maker, but Auto Truck Transport is a union shop ive not heard alot of complaints from thier drivers and Id recommend them over being independent contractor any day.

The reason why I say that is cause alot are only independent contractor jobs and you have no rights. From what I understand with ATT you pay union dues of $50 a month, you pay nothing for medical or dental or life. They pay a percentage match for retirement, offer bonuses, paid vacations, 12 paid holidays a year, you cant just get fired for nothing, the union protects you and so your treated better than as you would a contractor. Tryed turning in an application a while back, they said i had good experience but got the same message as Archangel2003 :/

So who are you with now? I'm looking for a good company and I've heard about Auto Driveaway and drivers seem to like them.

Classic and Apollo are a couple others.

Also, Auto Driveaway www.autodriveaway.com moves everything cars, trucks, straight trucks, step vans, tractor trailers, buses, etc. I have heard many good things about them and I have my first step van move across county tomorrow. They have always been in the commercial truck driveaway business, but have grown the business greatly over the last 3 years. Maybe they are treating drivers better??? The pay is a little more than what anyone described above. The downside is no tow car, and you are an independent contractor, but the upside is $$$$$. I'm excited. I will keep everyone posted on how it worked out! Be safe!

Thanks for the information everyone! Keep it up!
