I just put on 691 Firestones so far they seem to be pretty decent.
I have been using 12oz of air soft bb's in each tire they work really well. And are cheap & reusable. If you try them get the. 20 gram ones.

It doesn't get much better than Continental.....I Use them on my steer and spread trailer
Ive bought virtually every other brand out there over the years (USA and China) And Conti's Are The Best Hands Down.

Where else are you going to get 3 years on steers hauling 40k or more every load every week? Im satisfied with their product!!!!!

Dry rot? Really? You need like 5 years or 10 years to make em rot. Trailers sit in terrible places sure. But I have to go back to trailers from the 50's through the 70's before I identify tires with that kind of rot.

Im not giving you a hard time, but I find it hard to believe that modern tires will rot in normal 100K mile service in a big truck which is essentially 8 months or so in team service.

I use Michelin XDS2. Absolutely fabulous on snow and ice. But it's a soft rubber and wears too fast in the heat of he summer. So these are my winter tires. And XWorks XDY in the summer, great in the mud and a harder compound for extended life running on gravel.

I don't think they will rot in normal service. In my experience they are good for about 3 years before they start to crack. We had some on a trailer that didn't get pulled very much, the Michelins rotted before they wore out. Another axle had Bridgestones, they are still ok.
