I'm having problems with service trailer brakes leaking somewhere. Can I just block the entire blues line and drive it to the mechanic 8 miles downtown the road?
Drive without service brake?

Legally no. Too many inoperative service brakes.
ZVar, Rideandrepair, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
Of course I know that but will it work?

Will it work. Yes.
Opendeckin, Bean Jr., Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
Youll obviously have far less braking power, so. If loaded, use extreme caution. Had a cold winter and the blue line snapped on me at a shipper before (well, the red, but i swapped lines to get to a truckstop and replace the line, the drive was fine, but easily needed 2x the braking distance)

Yea it will work but not legal so be safe and make good decisions if you’re loaded.
I carry an assortment of pipe plugs and caps for this very reason….86scotty, Brettj3876, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -
Don't do anything to the line just put the carriage bolt in the hole in the brake boosters and it will release the brakes. Make sure to tighten it as much as you can.

If the trailer was empty, I'd drive it the 8 miles very carefully. Loaded? Only if it's very flat ground and not a very busy road... slowly with flashers on.RJM1953 and Opendeckin Thank this. -
Does a mobile mechanic really cost that much more than a shop? In my experience it's worth it just to get the mobile guy out there.

If its your truck and you are empty or light, then you might consider it.
