Old School you may be sure that I view those who have different views to me as dumb and void of all facts but that would be wrong.
I respect your and that anyone else has a right to their opinion and I respect that it will often be different to mine.
It is just that when this camera issue comes up there is so much BS sprouted as fact.
Some come here to this forum for info and I attempt to give them facts and real life experience regarding this because I have experience as a driver and as an office jockey dealing with Drivecam.
The invasion of privacy issue is obviously an emotive topic and I'm of the opinion that virtually no one on a personal level is in favor of this.
I just would like to inject some rational in to this discussion by providing facts and challenging the BS.
You and everyone can and will make up their own minds but better to do so with some facts and not solely on the ranting of some who may be ignorant and paranoid.
I BTW never accused you of any of that.

So KingQ I guess you work monitoring/gathering these clips or something? Then maybe you can provide an explanation as to why, as Baritone indicated, the microphone is live for an hour after the truck is shut down. Also, is hooking up to a trailer sufficient action to set off whatever "g force" sensors are connected to the camera?

My question is, can the sensor be tweaked to different levels of sensitivity as to what can trigger the cameras

I just have to chime in here. You wrote, "You know what happens outside the cab is usually caused by what happens inside the cab.."

USUALLY? I haven't viewed the stats but I'm going to hazard most truck accidents are caused by four-wheelers and not drivers. Who's wrong here?

The critical event feature is already active on my Qualcomm. Never did I do anything to activate it. The only difference is there will be a camera involved at this timeI and the driver won't be able to BS the company as to what happened

the quallcom version of a critical event is different from drive cam's. slamming your door or loud music can make the camera trigger and record. from what I am hearing there are a lot more events recorded by drive cam then by quallcomm

You can say whatever it is you want in support of these cameras...whoever it is posting in such a staunch defense of them.

I have no issue with a dash cam, filming the road. I use one myself. But I will not go for one filming me. Or the inside of my truck. Sure, they say it only records at certain times but I don't buy that garbage. I've already been told by one of the office guys that's in charge of the e logs and cameras where we are leased on at that everything is hooked up to his home and office computer. He can see what the camera sees from his computer. All via the E Logs.

To make me believe this is all an honest attempt by the trucking company I just don't buy. It has nothing to do with being a victim or whatever garbage you spewed at me. It's called being realistic and understanding how the little man will always be stepped on by those in power. If you don't trust me to be a professional driver while pulling your trailer, then don't allow me to lease on. Treat me like a professional and I will act like one. If not, then I'll go to another company that will.

Millis is ordering another 100 cameras. Sadly, I just do not feel comfortable with a camera pointing at me all the time, regardless of whether I am driving safe or not. When that time comes that I'm told to bring my truck in for a camera install, I will vote with my feet and head on to other ventures. I will not fight or argue with Millis as the trucks are theirs to do with as they please, but I will not drive with a camera. Period.

Oh, you are talking about aiding and abetting? I would have had no idea what you were talking about if you had not told me.

If some employer tried putting a camera 3 feet from my face for 11 hours a day I would just walk. If they can't trust me to drive their truck without pointing a camera at me, I'm not the driver for them. -- No victim here...

I was not specifically talking about accidents but they are part of it.

It is not really the 4 wheelers but rather those that sit inside the 4 wheelers is it not?
That was the point I was making.
Accidents are usually the result of poor habits , actions or decisions made not by 4 wheelers per-say but by the drivers there of.
The same goes for trucks and truck drivers.
An outside facing camera can show and record useful info but there is a lot of useful info that can be captured by an in cab recorder as well.
When it comes to training both inside and outward facing cameras are needed because what happens outside the cab is usually caused by what happens inside the cab.
