    Hello,

I am trying to figure out what you guys are using for the new 18mm driveline bolts? I am also trying to determine what year they switched over to the 18mm head fasteners (for extra credit)...

If you are really an over-achiever I could really use a picture of your tool that you use on these!!

Thanks so much folks. Looking forward to hearing from you.

On what driveline are you encountering these bolts?
That snapon socket listed above is awesome..... for a dozen uses. Then it spreads and strips out the bolts. I love my snapon but that socket need to be tougher or chrome.

Pushbroom, I will forward your feedback to the relevant parties... The 18mm is found on the newest Paccar trucks, Kenworth and Peterbilt. Thanks for your input!

Bet I have had my warrantied at least three times in last five years. We have stuck to the tried and true 1810 series with the 12 point point 1/2" in our spec, but don't use direct drive trans and 2.28 crazy ratios. Are you talking about the new Meritor RPL350 series with the grooved companion yokes? Don't think they are standard spec.

Paccar has been pushing the meritor drivelines. Checked one out in the yard, didn't see a 18mm bolt??
The meritor diffs are interesting looking, gotta see how they compare to the spicers.

Does seem like Paccar is going to more Meritor driveline products. The new"Paccar" drive axles are meritor. They do look square and long, but should be easy to pull out of center section. Checked standard spec for 2017/2018 and it was still Spicer SPL250 series.

Thanks for checking into that. We have been getting request for 18mm driveline sockets. Australia says one thing, US says another... I wonder where the confusions stems from.

Has anyone seen 18mm bolts on the drivelines of the newer Paccar offerings?

So I was rolling around under a new truck chasing down a vibration and what do ya know.... 18mm head on the strap bolts. Looks like the new SPL350 spicer driveshaft comes with them on the mainshaft. The interaxle still has the normal locking hardware. Seems to be enough room to get a standard socket on, worst case with a wobble extension. Bolts are listed as M14x1.25x25mm. 18mm 12 point head. The pic doesn't show the size but they are quite a bit beefier then the SPL250.
Truck is a heavy spec setup. RTLO20918b trans, 565hp cummins 2050ftlb.
