Driver Appreciation Week

I agree. Their lame appreciation events are insulting. Like I'm going to trip plan around their hot dog cook off? Please.

Ya, hosting a lunch of wieners and a Pepsi speaks volumes of how the company adores the hired help

 

our “driver appreciation” (linehaul) days consist of dinner or bfast. the terminal manager (who works his ### off anyway) comes in and personally cooks. last dinner they cooked steaks to order, barbecued chicken, etc. last bfast he came in early and made a full on breakfast, to order. eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, toast, bagels - everything. fresh as we walked in off the road. but i don’t work at walmart or sleep anywhere but my bed, no trip planning required.

these non union ltl places are just terrible, let me tell ya.

 

We have a weeks worth of stuff going on at our main terminals and if we are there we get free food!

Every week is driver appreciation week around here when we get our paychecks. The owner here has a very nice swimming pool at his house, and once a year invites everyone over for BBQ and beer, and of course the pool. And when hunting season comes, he opens his hunting camp up for us all to use.

I dunno, I worked at a place for two years that would give cold sandwiches and key chains. They almost bankrupted me. So I'd rather my employer save the effort, and just pay me what we feel I'm worth. Although the key chain wasn't a cheap POS, and I still have it.

 

In 2008 dart appreciation weekend got a plastic pen and a sleep apnea quiz. Seriously.

 

Ah come on driver. Surely you will at least get doughnuts and a bottle of water. A driver has to at least be worth that huh?
