Driver Charged With Hit & Run Caught On Surveillance Camera

You turned all the volume up....on a traffic camera.....traffic cams which NEVER have volume as far as i know.....what?

As for noise yes. You can see the hood of the car dip while being shoved which indicates brakes came on. Then at about 7 seconds there are indications the wheels stopped as the backend started to be physically shoved rather then rolling forward. This is highly likely to have prodiced a loud squeel or chirping from the wheels.

Next the truck was pushing the car sideways, not rolling it but physically pushing it. This would be bending in the bumper and hood which would have resulted in crunches and should have been felt. Lastly every single long nose I have ever driven has had a window at the bottom of the passenger door. There may be some that dont so i will give you the benifit of doubt here. But it should have given a clear view of what was going on if present with the car being shoved by the truck.

Finally it looks like the truck actully hit the car at 3 seconds then stopped before it then shoved it through the intersection. Not at 7 as i originally thought. Odds are very high that the motorist or one of the other cars would have been honking for the truck to stop.

While it is posible for 1 or even all of these to be missing the odds of all of them being missing is very very low. Even if they had been hitting and shoving a car should have been felt. For example a few years ago when i had my only accident, a pickup backed out of an ally i was backing up past on the drivers side while i was paying attention to my passenger mirror to get into a dock. I ended up i bumping his empty flapbed with my DoT bar. I still heard and felt the crunching of his fenders even from the front and over my back up beeper and that thing was a tiny lawn flatbed. Maybe 800 pounds. If i felt and heard that with a full 80k load before i even saw said flatbed in my drivers mirror. I am highly skeptical that shoving an entire car forwards and sideways would not have been INSTANTLY obvious.

Again its POSIBLE he was truely THAT oblivious. But everything i am seeing simply does not match up to that.

As I sit in my truck now looking out the lower window in my door, I find it to be impossible to see what’s in front of my truck.
Also being that the driver was going to make a U-turn he’d have no reason to be looking out it anyway.

 

Your welcome to your opinion then no matter if it is or is not wrong. Mine is that this driver did this intentionally. And it is clear neither of us will agree with the other on this issue.

 

I believe that was when he switched to high range.

I choose to give the driver the benefit of the doubt. Clearly the video shows and proves one thing only, and that is the truck made contact with the car..nothing more.

You on the other hand rely solely on your emotions a video and speculation to convict this driver.

I also suspect that if it was intentional that he would also be charged with road rage..

Nonetheless I’m not giving the driver a free pass..just doesn’t look to be intentional.

First of all no just no. I am looking at the video and from MY experince and MY judgment to ME it looks to be intentional. While also making it clear in from the first post with you i admit its posible i am wrong. Plus i usually enjoy playing devils advocate as i try to think at problems from diffrent directions and it usually ends up being a fun debate. I never once said he was GUILTY i only presented my stance and thinking.

You are looking at from YOUR experince and YOUR judgment and to YOU it doesnt. And you think that he is being thrown under the bus and i am attacking him unfairly. Again fair enough. Imo we then debated it and presented our arguments for our stances, we couldnt agree i backed off. Especially as you have either directly or indirectly insulted me multiple times.

I never once said he was guilty i never once said i am absolutely right and i infact tried to leave it open for you to explain your thinking and counter me. Instead you insult and attack me. So here is your emotional response. Enjoy

That’s exactly what happened he wasn’t paying attention and then didn’t know the car was there because he couldn’t see it.
If anybody has ever driven a long nose in the city they would understand.
A lot of long hood daily city trucks are equipped with curved bar spot mirrors on the front of the hood so they can see what’s up tight to the front of them to avoid running over pedestrians in crosswalks.
This is also a lesson to pedestrians in the fuel isle who are headed in or out of the truck stop crossing tight to the hood of a long hood truck... when someone is in the drivers seat they just can’t see you down there and in a second you could be flattened.

I’m torn on this one as well. I used to drive a hood and depending on how you sit in the seat, seeing that car could’ve been pretty difficult. He might not have seen it...and Maybe he has the horsepower juiced and didn’t feel the bump when he took off?

ok before you all jump on my back, I’m just doing some friendly speculation trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe mixing some sarcasm in there as well. Either way it sucks for all parties involved.
