Driver dont answer calls missed apointment ...HELP

    Aaaahhhh, ok. That makes sense. Call the cops. Right now. His ##### needs to go to jail for grand theft and be the "New Meat" in prison for a while. Hope his new jailhouse boyfriend outweighs him by 150 lbs and smells like used gym underwear and sweaty socks.

    I'll take a wild guess here that Iowa Carriers does not utilize USIS or make DAC reports. If ever there was a case in which it was appropriate...this is it.

    Regardless what IC may have done to irritate the driver, all of us...company, lease and owner...know you simply do not hold a load hostage. Especially not a produce or fresh meat load. The shelf life of these is too short. Holding a load hostage is tantamount to outright theft. I can see holding equipment. But not a load.

    I think I called this outfit on an add they had on here for a driver. They never called back but it was an old add. I think the story was that their father had suffered heart problems and they had two trucks and needed a driver to carry on the father's dream. Maybe I'm confussed but I think this is the one.

    If that is the case they probably lack the knowledge to make this work. Theft of an Interstate load is not something I would want to do. But you know this didn't just up and happen. We have no idea what the driver's story is. In fact we hardly know what the OP is trying to tell us.

    I'll be the whole story is quite entertaining and will end up being painful for both parties. I sent them a PM when this first happened offering to help in hopes of turning it into an opportunity for myself but again heard nothing. The longer this goes on the happier I am that I didn't get any answer either time.

    About my third month into trucking I am sitting at the J in Barstow and I guy is walking around calling a guys name and trucking company. Guy raises his hand and says "that's me". Guy says you are under arrest for interstate theft and a bunch of other things.
    And while standing there hand cuffed waiting for the cops partner he tells us AND THE COP after being read his rights, the whole story. Short version:
    He was upset with old company. Found a new job. Drove his loaded truck and trailer from company A to TS near new company. Did the orientation thing. Got in new companies rig, drove to TS and got his stuff from old truck and went on his merry way.
    Couple weeks later old and new company talk and coordinate having him arrested.
    And he was laughing about all this.

    There is no humor in federal crimes and most things dealing with Interstate transportation are federal.

    I had a load of potatoes that some had spoiled, years ago. Back then all loads I hauled were COD (check) when I backed in. I had not done anything wrong. The guy said he would have to send them about 50 miles away to Henderson, KY to be sorted to figure out what he would take and this would take a few days. A light bulb came on because in my younger days my tolerance was zero for being jacked around. I told him I would take them over for him to save time.

    I called Washington, can't remember what department, but I found out if they wouldn't pay me I could sell the load. I called the guy that was supposed to sort them and he said he would buy them. I then called both the shipper and receiver and offered them the chance to do the right thing and they said I couldn't sell the product. I sold the load and got about $2400 for a load that was to pay $2700. The shipper sent me a bill for the load and I sent him a bill for the balance of my freight. That was all I heard.

    There are lots of laws in transportation. When you find things going South you need to get on the phone and find out what your rights are. It can be surprising what you learn. I guess in this day and time you probably need an attorney.

    Maybe the driver had a difficult time understanding what you were saying.

    Real simple:

    Carrier screws you, doesn't mean you should screw the customer. He's just the guy trying to get his/her stuff. I'll go through he77 and high water to get the customer the stuff he/she paid for since they aren't involved in my fight with the carrier.

    Wow after reading this thread i find myself thinking while puffing on my E cigarrette theres only 3 things that could of shaped the situation like this...1)Driver got into an argument with o/o over unpaid wages this is his way of payback.2)Funny how theres only three pallets left which means he was about to complete his drops which means that something happened that made those pallets spread all over the floor he might've ran off the road and hit something or someone and he freaked and fled.3)Maybe his heading to his orientation like BigbadBilly said but i doubt it...he did commit a crime no doubt about it i sense something terrible went wrong on that drop...
