It's not so much that we are easy targets; even though as professionals we are and held to a higher standard. It's the nature of litigation to use whatever is available to paint a picture favorable to one's client. It's not about justice or the truth, it is all about creating a narrative in the minds of the jury regardless of reality. A video of the driver, a perfect driver with a spotless record will never be helpful when examined by a paid consultant who testifies. Like you mentioned any and every little action will be eviscerated under oath by a paid expert for the plaintiff

"...even though as professionals..."
They term us as that in one breath, and in the next claim we are 'unskilled labor' and blue collar.
Trucking is the ONLY profession where those are held both as a truism and a paradox.
Doesn't that make us easy targets, from many angles?Little Eddy Thanks this. -
The driver cam will sharpen that image and make the target much easier to place in the cross-hairs.Little Eddy Thanks this.

I can see that viral video now...
Shirtless, one hand on the wheel the other stuffing a footlong Subway meatball sandwhich in the drivers pie hole. Cigarette smoke wafting up from a dash mounted ashtray, Bluetooth headset in place. Driver rubs his tired eyes with the back of his hand...
Start cutting a 6 figure check, 7 figures if children are injured, 8 figures if there are fatalities. -
Sysco drivers have told me that Sysco is doing the same thing with driving facing cameras.
Some drivers have already quit and told management to put it where the sun doesn't shine.
Sysco is telling drivers if they cover the camera with hats and other objects, they will be fired.
I would use a mirror and show them the passenger side door.
Or a sign that says " Signal Lost"
Or " Driver not available,
Please try again later. " -
Need a full list posted of companies to avoid that use or will use driver facing cams. This would be helpful for people to know who to avoid working for.
Driver facing cams most likely increase blood pressure due to stress! Safety risk.

You guys have a lot to learn.
I had a driver who was in an accident. 5 witnesses claimed he ran a red light. They all watched the lady enter the intersection, the truck impacted the side of her car, then they all looked up and the light was red. Truckers fault. End of story...
Until we retrieved the 8 seconds (not 30... not continuous...not can look at the driver when ever we want...) that was recorded when the truck experienced a hard brake followed by impact. He was paying attention, had spotted the lady and applied the brakes and the light was green the entire time. He enjoyed tearing up the ticket.
When drivers do make mistakes, and you will, its less costly to negotiate that fact in the beginning rather than spending money to defend only to lose and pay more. -
Doesn't the dash cam show the accident and the traffic light status?Pedigreed Bulldog, Little Eddy and JoE_Dirte Thank this.
-
Setting aside your condescending attitude your own statement shows the driver cam was unnecessary. The light being green and impact were surely captured by the forward facing camera.Friday, OceanDan, Pedigreed Bulldog and 3 others Thank this.

A front facing cam would have done all this.drvrtech77 and Pedigreed Bulldog Thank this.
