Maybe it'll lead to less crashes long term. More likely it'll lead to more crashes long term as driver facing cameras will cause drivers to look elsewhere. And the really good drivers that are still at sni cause they're comfortable and don't like change will all of a sudden see that they can make more/same money elsewhere and not have a camera on them. So they leave. Not all of them but some. And how many inexperienced and potentially bad drivers does sni have to hire to replace one very good seasoned driver? At best one, but much more likely two to four since the first few will get fired for doing something stupid shortly after getting here. And with all those new drivers.. Yeah. More accidents. And the thing is, once those drivers that are decent get experience, they'll leave for somewhere that doesn't care about them picking their nose while they drive. And the cycle repeats itself.

SNI likes turnover, new drivers equal CHEAP drivers.
And there's a write off for taxes.Home_on_wheels, PoleCrusher and Friday Thank this. -
I seriously hope you're wrong.. I like sni so far but a driver cam in my truck will lead to an immediate return of the keys. Hopefully it'll at least take long enough for me to get experience enough to move somewhere better.TennMan Thanks this.

I hope I'm wrong too.
I've been known to be in the past, ask around....lolFriday Thanks this. -
There's that possibility also. I'm sure some pencil pushers have decided it will pay off though. More companies will adopt them and the new guys will just accept it as how things are.
And it will get worse. Footage will end up in court that shows a driver doing something stupid, it will cost the company millions. Some seem to think it will transfer the responsibility from the carrier to the driver but the opposite is true. With the technology there they will say the company should have been aware of what their drivers are doing. Triggered events will evolve into 'random' monitoring.
And the race to the bottom of the employment pool will continue.
Be careful what you wish for always comes to mind when they do stuff like this. Treat your employees like idiots incapable of thinking and being responsible and that's what you end up with for workers. That's fine at McDonalds but not when in control of a big truck.Home_on_wheels, Friday and TennMan Thank this.
