I dont even know how to communicate this better. My grandfather's wore a shirt, tie, and cap with a badge in the trucking industry. Now the jogging pants, flip flop mafia wants respect? He choose his life over others. Thank God he didn't think he was a Fireman.
Integrity is doing whats right when nobody is watching. Used to mean alot to those men who paved the way for us.

Prior to me dropping out of law school to start my journey towards building a multi million dollar freight transportation company, I set out to get a good education that would prepare me to enter this industry. I didn’t feel comfortable just going about a 3 week course and then being set free to operate equipment that could end my life or the lives of others. So, the education had to be real and not just to get me a CDL license. But that’s just me.
Once I completed that education, I wanted an experienced trainer, one with more than 5 years of driving experience, and I demanded that when I was hired at my first company. My trainer sat in the passenger seat while I drove and graded my driving skills throughout my training. Never once did my trainer sleep in the bunk while I was driving.
I didn’t have a lazy trainer as my trainer went as far as teaching me how to communicate with customers and how to deal with situations that would rattle my nerves. When parking, my trainer always made me stop and he would ask me what was my plan to getting into that space. If my trainer didn’t agree with my plan, he told where my plan would fail. Once he agreed with my plan, he got out and watched me back up. If I made an error, he called me out of the truck and showed me where I made my error. Pull up try again, he would say.
When it came down to me becoming a first seat, he told me if I didn’t feel comfortable, I could extend my training for another 2 weeks. Having spent 7 weeks with him, I felt I was ready. Yet, I refused to do anything that I wasn’t comfortable doing which I still follow today. I don’t step out side of what I’m qualified to do. I don’t cut corners and I don’t put money over my abilities.
If you have made it this far in post, then here is my point. I take this profession to be extremely dangerous and skilled. One mistake can cost me my life or the life of another. I didn’t come into this industry for money. I came into this industry because I have a passion for being my own boss and my love for travel.
With that being said, I think there are a lot of lessons involved in this case with this young man. I also understand our judicial system even when I don’t agree with it on certain issues which many of you have voiced your agreement or disagreement with. Perhaps the judge will re-evaluate this man’s charges and set aside the more serious charges for lesser charges that carries a lesser sentence. Or maybe the governor may authorize a pardon/clemency. I’m not the one to judge another person’s fate. I just know how to interpret the law from what I was learning in law school. The first thing they teach you in law school is to leave your feelings at the door. The law isn’t based upon our feelings. So, what I feel isn’t important. This how our judicial system works. -
I like your attitude, I could take or leave the lawyer part, it's why many of us went into this business in the 1st place. We knew we wouldn't get rich, but couldn't fathom doing anything else. This kid? Goes from making sandwiches in Cuba, to an 80K loaded rig in the Rocky Mountains. Apparently, the world today knows no difference, and this is what happens.
It's the top story on our local news, ( hello, isn't there a pandemic we should be talking about?) and all of a sudden, thanks to media, EVERYBODY is an expert on what happened. They post these people with black eyes and disfigured and how this devastated their lives, oh my goodness, the public cries, look at those poor people. Media cashes in on this, and it becomes a circus, and THAT'S when the celebrities get involved. Kim Kardashian couldn't tell you a brake shoe from a high heel, but oh, she's all on board,,,idiots. Hollywood probably already has a movie in the making,,,Last edited: Dec 24, 2021

Aside from drivers faults, this industry has failed drivers. Failed to produce qualified drivers even with all the rules. His company management should be shot to.
In the trade of goods and services, trucking is the " Rented Mule" of the USA.rank Thanks this. -
everybody gets what they deserve in this life. the consumer gets the driver it deserves the company gets the driver it deserves and the government gets the driver it deserves this guy did not want to be a truck driver he was only here so he could live in the United States hopefully with a pathway to citizenship. it’s the government that issues the work visa. now the taxpayer deserves to feed and house this guy for the rest of his life
201 Thanks this.
