I think that's a great idea. Most of the tribal leaders like it too.

Which is provided during OJT. Someone with no prior skills, training, or experience can get hired for a job on the production line.

Right, not really that much different than trucking. I just hope TPTB don't figure out how to get as good at replacing drivers as they did at replacing meat packers. Pay in trucking is down from what it was 40 years ago, but I don't think it's quite as low as half of what it was. They're definitely trying hard to use that model though.

Cargill and National both start out about $23 an hour for production workers in Dodge City. I wouldn’t think National in Liberal or Tyson in Holcomb would vary much from that.

Specifically, Monique Trucking failed to have in place a Controlled Substances and Alcohol Use Testing Program and was not registered in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, failed to ensure that the driver employed met Commercial Driver’s License Standards, failed to comply with Hours of Service of Drivers requirements, and failed to comply with Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection standards.” Smh…

This website appears to have reasonably accurate numbers regard many facets of the trucking industry.
Trucking Industry Trends, Statistics, & Forecast – 2023 Edition

if we dig a little into it, this number pops out:
Q How many trucking companies are there in the US?
A 1.1 million companies were for-hire trucking companies (motor carriers).

The FMCSA says about 750,000 of those are "active".
it is clear the enforcement community, both in the field and in the office are simply overwhelmed by the task.
Welcome to the net effect of deregulation.

So did they do anything right?

Unfortunately, probably not. I doubt the feds check the names of the principals seeking to register against a list of principals of companies that have been issued a C&D order.

Probably DOT auditors. And whoever in Washington, if anybody, is responsible for cross-checking the list of clearinghouse registrants against the list of UCR registrants.
