Driver leaps from truck as train crashes into it

A gravel truck driver is lucky to be alive after a close call with a train in northwest Harris County.

He jumped from the truck seconds before a train crashed into it near Hwy. 290 and Barker Cypress.

The truck was dragged about 100 yards down the track before the Union Pacific train came to a stop.

Part of the truck was still stuck to the front end of the train when Air 11 flew over the scene.

AIR 11

Cy-Fair Volunteer firefighters responded to the scene.

The truck driver was taken to Cy-Fair Medical Center to be checked out. His injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Two people on the train were also injured and are being taken to area hospitals.
