She said KY told her to get a KY address and they'll switch her CDL from Florida to Kentucky.

A rental/lease agreement (with utilities included or not) is one proof of address in KY. Still needs another. I think KY is issuing conventional IDs and also REAL ID identification. If a KY CDL must be REAL ID compliant, and I think it is, they will require the same items as TN. That is when TN started requiring the proof of address documents.

The pinch point is not proof of residence, the pinch point is Tennessee refusing a legal immigrant with full work privileges the ability to make a living by denying access to a CDL.

A CDL, like ANY driver license, is not a right everyone has. Not even every native born American citizen has a right to a driver's license. You have to prove adequate vision, pass a written and driving test, etc. The state gives you permission to have it. That permission is called a license. You either meet the requirements for a CDL or you do not. You can earn a living selling hamburgers or selling manhole covers door to door. CDL driving isn't the only way to earn a living.

Truck Drivers for Handing Out CDLs From Vending Machines? Seems EXACTLY like 2024.

If you were genuine you would have people from one of the "charities" that help for paperwork and bureaucracy with govt issues and not pretending to be someone on a internet forum. NOTHING about your story sound real. Maybe you can live on 6969MoneyShot Lane in KY and haul freight for 6969 Trucking?

Not really, see no offense but this will help others too who are in the same situation.
OK, hope you enjoy Kentucky, nice state.

No misunderstanding and your english is better than others I know who were born and raised here.
    Nothing to be sorry about.

They have a GREEN CARD. They are here LEGALLY. Stop casting aspersions about their immigration status.

Once again, to all those letting their bigotry show, please read this post carefully. Stop suggesting they show "welfare" documents; you are being a jerk by doing so.

Bullcr@p. "Real ID" is an OPTIONAL, extra charge add-on to any license, for the express purpose to show as a documentation of citizenship with countries that border the US (Canada, Mexico, some Caribbean islands). As a foreign national, if they cross into Canada, they will just need their official passports and their US Green card to be shown. There is no legal requiremnt to get a "Real ID" on a CDL (or ANY license) in ANY state that offers them. Stop talking out of your alternate orifice, please..

To the original poster, please listen to what I'm saying, and forget about any of these baseless opinions from various passive-aggressive posters. You probably just encountered a DMV worker who was either an utter ignoramus, or was a petty bureaucrat trying to be petty because of some political ideology. Go back with all the documentation asked (including something that connects you with your place of residence; either a utility bill, a rental contract, etc), your Green Card, your passport, and birth certificate (if you have it, even if it' in a foreign language), and if denied again, ask to speak to the manager.

Exactly Florida will give any degenerate a CDL why do you think they all go there .Tennessee won’t.Look it up yourself,if you’re here legally and have the right to work here Tennessee will issue you a CDL if not then they won’t.
