    Bingo!

That's the biggest problem with trucking. There is lots of unpaid work and down time.

I've never seen an industry like trucking where so many people are willing to work so many hours, be gone from home weeks at a time, for such little pay.

I'm about to eat my words bad. I've stood up for otr because I really do enjoy traveling and seeing the country.

    BUT....

My mom and step dad are having health problems. It sucks to be 1500 miles from home when you get a call that your moms in the hospital.

This is where I eat my words and go back on what I said.... I said I would never do local but I will be looking into a few local jobs at a later date. For now I am happy with roehl though. They at least get me home when i request it.

Thanks big Joel. My mom has a kidney disease. They caused so much pain that she passed out and hit her head. Luckily she's fine and hone now. She just found out about her kidneys a couple weeks ago. She's had it for about 20 years and never knew.

Anyway, I do love otr but I may have to get a local job or something close to home in a few years. I wish i could find a regional deal where I'm hone every weekend. Friday afternoon till Monday morning. My best friends dad works for trucks Inc out of Georgia. He lives 30 minutes from me and gets home every weekend. But you gotta be 25 with 3 years otr experience

    Thanks free word.

The day cabs are our local guys. The flat bed fleet isn't available where I live. Only van. And no local since I don't live near a terminal.

Sorry.. Was just a little excited to tell you lol.. first time I ever seen a Roehl day cab.. same day you had this problem.. thought it was meant to be. haha. Best I can tell you, is look for dump work.. tractor trailer or straight.. can make decent money, if you find a good company.. but also, watch out for the bad ones.. I didn't know that, so Im with one of those haha..

I hear ya. My age is what hurts me.

Plus no dump experience. I'm hoping to still drive a tractor trailer. Would hate to get into a straight truck.

I had no experience when I got my job.. shoot, I only had a month of OTR.. I think you said you went to an accredited school on an old post right? That counts as driving experience too.. Most dump companies don't care.. they will just throw you in a truck with a guy for a week, or two if you need it.
