The ''scam'' of not paying detention would end, not detention itself.
If the shipper/receiver had to pay waiting time they wouldn't make you wait.

So you’re saying that the employees determine how much they will be paid?? What other businesses do that?

If you are not happy with the pay there is always the other option...
Find a different line of work.

I wish the majority of drivers would make the same decision I did back in 2003 and refuse to work for carriers that pay on a CPM basis.

Not only is it not required it should be forbidden - and I'm one for reducing regulations instead of adding new ones, in the vast majority of instances.

    tscottme and Pamela1990 Thank this.

Carriers aren't going to stop charging detention, especially not if they can pass that charge through directly to the shipper/receiver.

Yes, that's exactly what you do when you agree to work for a company at an agreed-upon wage.

You know, if enough drivers leave because of the pay - the employers will have to increase the pay.

But that is like increasing the minimum wage.
It has consequences, in the form of increased costs all up and down the food chain.

It all eventually balances out, but the bottom stays at the bottom in the end.

It's rather barbaric that not all of you are hourly already.

Hourly wouldn’t work for OTR. Imagine seeing a sea of 60mph trucks. No one will be motivated to drive the posted speed limit.

Cpm + x1.5 over certain amount a week.

    40hr x 60mph = 2400 miles anything more then that should be x1.5

When I was paid hourly customer delays maxed out at 60 minutes, not the routine 4-6 hour delays at reefer customers getting xharged CPM.
