I was at a fuel stop in Jennings la and a guy was getting fuel in one of the big company truck. Wife pulled up with kids in tow driving a pickup with a drum on back. He pumped about 20 gallons into it and kissed the kids, then she left. I called his company and turned in his truck #. Don't like being a rat but I hate a thief.
Ive was offered fuel at a truck stop in Dallas area. Guy got steamed when I said no thanks. Now what if you got caught knowingly buying stolen fuel. Receiving stolen goods is also a crime.
wait, this is illegal? maybe i'm not understanding.... doesn't the cost of the fuel come out of his own paycheck? so how is that stealing?
A company driver does not pay for fuel, the company does. Therefore if he is selling fuel and/or filling his own truck/storage he is most likely stealing from the company (I say "most likely" because the driver in question might have an arrangement with the company... not likely, but possible). A L/O is most likely paying for fuel and a true O/O is paying for the fuel. In the last two cases though, they would be putting fuel taxed at commercial rates and through their company into their personal vehicle, which is illegal if it is not properly documented and claimed.
i see.. i didn't see where this guy was a co. driver. because honestly the thought had crossed my mind. i am a new o/o and just starting at my first job as such, and i don't get my first paycheck til the 25th and am pretty low on cash since i've been out of work for 7 weeks and paid cash for my tractor/trailer. so i was thinking i could fill up a friend's truck once to put some cash in my pocket just to give me a little breathing room while i'm waiting for that first paycheck. didn't even consider this could be illegal. just saw it as giving myself an advance of my own money. but now i will not be doing this without my boss' permission. my gut tells me he won't care though. i wasn't planning on pumping hundreds of gallons or anything crazy like that. just a few hundred to make sure i don't overdraft my account in the next 3 weeks.
will your co not give you a small advance , shouldnt make it a habbit but it would get you out of your bind
Am I missing something here ? This makes no sense to my old empty brain cavity . You want to sell fuel you have to pay for to get some extra cash for ?????? I can see a guy that doesn't buy the fuel selling it and putting the money in his pocket . He makes money even if he sells it for 50 cents a gallon. I don't see how selling fuel you pay for will make you some folding money at all . How can selling fuel you pay for be Illegal? I will have to scratch me head and think on this for awhile .....
