Nope, not volunteer. EMS ALS for Barstow, CA and San Bernadino, CA. But it is part time. And construction is that good if its what you love. I couldn't imagine anything else. And yes that couple hundred thousand bank account looks good to use, but I hold back for times like these so I'm very comfortable. In this economy, I'm able to keep working non stop but I have to take a huge pay cut or lose clients. If your disciplined enough, its a great job.

No your govt. created this with the unions and the insurance companies they created the CDL so they could start all these CDL mills and get rich off the little man. There was no shortage of drivers when it was a comercial drivers license but when it became a CDL and you had to go to school to get it now there was a shortage. Its all done with smoke and mirrors and you are all dumb enough to believe it and follow along like little puppies. Taking what ever they will drivel out to you. Now that they have flooded the market with cheap labor they can close it down and start the next scare the mexicans are coming to take your jogb now that they have the wages down to where they can get them to do the job. Its all smoke and mirrors in the game and you all buy it so when you get tired of running and changeing stand up and say enough is enough and quit letting them push you around. Stand up and vote them out of office and vote in a real human one that is not trained by the systerm to work it but one that will stand up and take your contry back untill you the people stand up and say enough you will never have a say in your life youy will be puppets for the big goverment and what they wanrt you to do so go ahead and haul your but for .30 a mile and don't forget .50 cent a mile freight rates with 4.00 a gallon deisel yup you can make a killing like that.

You guys with farming or trucking backgrounds should be given some consideration in this whole process to go around the schools, but I have to say for most of us guys with no exposure the process was pretty reasonable.

I wouldn't expect a company to hire me having never been behind the wheel of a truck before, and I couldn't get a CDL without the access either on my own. Now at $2950 I think it was worth it. There were no more than 10 students in any phase of the process at any time and a staff of at least that many. The owner did little more than a month of hand-wringing while I was there. No one was getting rich. Looked more like a bunch of people losing their ###es to me.

Even with that month there, I still don't know crap, but it has to be gobs more than I did. A company is still going to have to train me, but at least they know I was ok enough to learn the laws and basic driving before they took me on. From what I saw at school, this isn't something you can take for granted.
