Driver side window shattered on me while driving

I have a 2015 freightliner in the shop right now because the driver's window shattered when I closed the door.

 

Just had this happen to me in Oklahoma on 40 east,mile marker 290. I was the only one on the highway at the time,so I know that it wasn't a rock. Pretty ironic that this happened on the same highway.

Ive lost windows before. It started after 2000's

Dodge back window shattered from time to time which is replaced same day by insurance for free. And once on our old Taurus. That one could very well be tornado damage but we are not certain.

 

Hasnt happened, but i do watch the window wiggle greatly when a quarter to half down and i always think the amount of #### it would be if it shattered in my face.

Was it glass blowing all over or what?

I read it can get hit prior to it cracking. It gets hit by a pebble say and it doesnt break but months later it seems to crack on it own because there was a defect in the glass from the prior hit. This same thing happened to me and that's why I looked it up. Could be a manufacturer defect in the glass if its fairly new.

 

I met a truck and my drivers window took a hit, and exploded all over the cab. I heard the hit though, and think it was a piece of ice, it was in northern bc and 30 fricken below.
My grandad just walked up to his car once and about the time he reached for the door handle the glass exploded. It was hot summer time and we blamed it on heat.
