We do have alot of loads that require drivers to have the tanker endorsement. We have customers that move chemicals in totes on dry vans. We also have customers that need those empty totes returned to be reused. The empty tote loads are the best because they usually double stack them all the way back and 30 of them will weigh less than 5k. The rate per mile is higher than most dry van freight and they are not considered hazmat because the totes are empty.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Most of the Landstar BCO's I know that have drivers pay by the mile. Seems to me that .40-.45 is a safe number. The lanes are really whereverer you would want to run, unless the owner wants the truck kept on a certain lane. Some of us have relationships with agents that keep us on the same lane but then again alot of guys run wild. We book and handle all our own freight so the usual company driver problems like sitting and only pulling heavy freight are not the norm. Benefits, really? If you follow whats going on you will see alot of small business owners are closing up shop because of the cost of benes. I do know one owner that pays an extra .10 per mile to help his drivers cover the cost of insurance but I think hes one of the few.

Well you can't answer the questions asked in here in here? I am jot very sure of a percentage deal, seen them before, been told it pays this when that has a cut out of it that I never saw... I'd rather a amount per mile, If I deadhead I'm still paid or there is some deal like first 50 miles are on me and then the mileage starts, I don't care but I would rather a cents per mile.... OR $$$ is fine to,
I'll start at a buck a mile!

Your point is missing me. If I was going to pay by the mile it would be .40-.50 and would be incntive based like I said. Good drivers and workers in general do better if they are rewarded for thier efforts. Example,my fuel cost is .47cpm which with alot of my loads means Im making money off my FSC. My last load had a .627 fsc and many are .48-.50 cpm. I drive 57 and I pull light freight with big miles whenever possible which helps me hit that .47cpm for fuel. I would expect the same of my driver and in return I would offer an incentive.Last edited by a moderator: Aug 25, 2013

I'm located in Texas and I have had 1 truck leased to Landstar for 1 year already and loving it. I used to have my own fleet of 15 trucks but the oilfield business took all my drivers and caused me to downsize and now I ended up opening a Belly dump business which is based in San Antonio with 7 trucks and 8 belly dumps in which my brother in law runs it. We are truck and trailer dealers and have a good set of International trucks sitting in our yard that we would love to find some great drivers for. If you are interested in becoming part of this "team" please call Carlo @ 9567637464 at any time. Hazmat is required or you must be willing to get hazmat certified. Considering paying by Percentage or by mile it's still up in the air and something we can talk about over the phone or in person. Join the Team!!
