When the patrol calls because you couldn't manage to make it all the way off the road when you broke down, or make your own arrangements. Don't start to argue with me and want me to talk to your boss. My first priority is to get your #### off the road, everything else can wait.

The e-log in my truck doesn't care whether I'm on private property or a public roadway. Once I break 5 MPH it goes to line 3.

And how is a driver who is out of hours supposed to be able to move the truck off of private property (thus entering or at least crossing a public roadway) without being in violation of HOS regs?

Don't park on private property unless you have permission. It's not rocket science here.
And if permission is revoked for whatever reason, you can violate hos or call a tow truck. Again, not rocket science.

Also, if you don't have yard move or personal convenience that's a you problem. Not that either would likely be legal when told to leave private property.

    As @ZVar said, "That's a you problem."

Being out of hours doesn't override the rights of the owner of private property. An HOS violation is merely the price to be paid for poor decision making by the driver.

Simply put, private property rights were a key element in the founding of our country, and those rights trump a regulation about HOS any day of the week.

You completely misinterpreted the intent of my previous message. I would never claim that private property rights are unimportant. My focus was purely upon the regulations, the technology, and the rigidity thereof that disallows something like moving off of private property.
