Well I won’t comment on tesla situation, I like the car and when I can, plan on getting one.
However this accident no matter what caused it seems to point to a flaw in all EVs, fire.
here in this kingdom of Michigan with our dictator and our stupid idiots in Lansing, there is talk about forcing school districts to go from safe diesels (never been a fire in a diesel bus due to an accident) to electric buses to say the children,
As much as this sounds like a great idea, outside of the political bs and all that green crap, there are no safeguards from fires and knowing first hand from one of my kids horrible experiences on a bus in a traffic accident, there is a great chance that a bus load of kids being trapped burning to death as people watch in horror.

While I’m not a proponent of EV, gasoline is much more of a concern. However, we’re so used to it most consider it a non-issue

Except that's gasoline doesn't take 24 hours to burn out on it's own.
-
true but gasoline is much harder to manage when the tank is compromised. None of these are good options but society is just more comfortable with gasoline since it’s been around so long. I’m partial to diesel though

With over 120 years of gasoline use, I think it is still a bit better than an ev battery fire.TokyoJoe and rustyshakelford Thank this.

Just for the record guys, it turns out that the fire was put out in three minutes, they didn't have to call Tesla to ask how to put it out, the car was not operating in driverless mode and in fact wasn't even equipped with the full feature, and it didn't take anywhere near 30,000 gallons of water to put out.

Fake news.
Read the article. While the initial fire was put out in three minutes, the fire department still had to be on site for over 4 hours the keep spraying water on the batteries to prevent a reignite of the batteries.Last edited: May 19, 2021

Not fake news. The OP fake news article falsely claimed that "....the Tesla’s electric batteries continued to reignite, wreaking havoc on emergency response efforts. Firefighters reportedly battled the flames for more than four hours and deployed 32,000 gallons of water."
In fact the only reason they couldn't move the car for four hours is because there was an ongoing investigation of fatalities. -
Gotta love people that cannot admit they are wrong, even when the proof they show directly shows them as being wrong.

You're the one who is still pretending the car was on fire for four hours, even after the fire chief said exactly the opposite.
