driverless trucks when?

The answer to the question posted: Before they should. After that it will be: When will they have driverless trucks that won't crash? or When will they have driverless trucks that can't be hacked by some wierdo?
IMHO the world economy will totally colapse long b4 it happens.

I heard we were supposed to have flying cars by the year 2000. I don't think that happened. So I say driverless trucks are not going to happen.

 

I agree with jgremlin. I seriuosly doubt there will true driverless trucks. The most likely scenerio would be a "driver" would be in the driver seat ready to take over in case of some sort of malfunction.

 

in 1970 someone told my dad that he was trying to invent a devise that would fit in your pocket that would allow you to talk to anyone else in the world without a cord.
In the 1980's that same guy (who was walking around with a brick phone) told me that people are trying to invent a handheld computer that you could see photographs on and carry around in your pocket.

He also said people are trying to invent cars and trucks that dont need drivers. Sounds just as crazy as the other stuff he said.

If it works so great, then why was there a human driving it when it came to take a picture of my house for Google Earth?

 

As long there will be natural stupidity, artificial intelligence will NOT replace truck drivers. Sorry.
