Name the carriers.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Too many Chicago carriers to count. He did mention the cities so check big carriers there and you'll probably get your names.
-
Yeah, I don't need the names myself. However, I would think people would be better warned if the guy doing the video named names, that's all.
-
You can also add carriers out of these metro areas:
Grand Rapids,MI
Waterloo,IA
Nashville,TN
And as a whole-New Jersey -
For years, I’ve been telling company drivers to ‘travel light.’ This is nothing new. If you work for a mega, you will see some person sitting outside a terminal with a ton of luggage, TV, boxes...etc. You know what happened. Driver got fired.
You’re driving for a company, fairly new driver, and you have a couple accidents. You’re in Charleston,SC, live in Nashville and your load is going to Denver. “Hmm, this is the third incident...what are the odds of them firing me?” If YOU are on thin ice with your company, expect it. You’d better travel as light as you possibly can. Better clean out the truck when you go by the house. If you are worried about passing random drug tests, travel light. If you have to ask about hair follicle testing, travel light. If you get a 30 day medical card, travel light. If you hate your job, travel light. If your mouth has ever cost you a job, travel light. If any of your friends and workmates have ever cautioned you about being lewd, travel light. If you company fuel cards work part time, travel light. If your truck is in the shop once a month, travel light. If the average new driver at your company is making 1.5X more than you, travel light. If you have been sloppy drunk more than twice a year, travel light.Last edited: Jan 13, 2018
Scvready, Shock Therapy and bigkev1115 Thank this. -
Since when is it someone else's responsibility to take care of another's problem? If I decide to take a job far from home and haven't even been officially accepted yet, I have to assume there is a possibility they may choose not to hire me, and I see nothing wrong with being personally responsible to get my butt back home.
Think of how many drivers falsify applications and traffic and criminal history. Can't pass a drug test. Can't read English to fill out forms. Have no ability or desire to bathe regularly. Etc
Sorry. I can't offer any empathy for these people who were rejected. In fact, it's good to know at least some carriers are maintaining standards.Last edited: Jan 13, 2018
bowhunter67, bigguns and AModelCat Thank this. -
this is a new one for me. usually people are IN orientation, and let go from there, if anything in the deep background checks fail the new employee. this is why if i get there, i get there on my own, so i can get back home as well.
cash or plastic. always leave home with them.
but that was in my past.
i no longer need to be bussed, trained or planed to ANY orientation.
local is good.
