Running across the 10 the past couple of days and the road had more 'gators than Florida......
The #1 cause of 'gators is under-inflated tires....
When you run an under-inflated tire two things occur....
- They will over-heat and.....
- The sidewalls will flex......
Ultimately, the tire fails and blows.......
Next thing you know.....you have 'gators littering the ribbon....
Please check your tires and ensure they are properly inflated.....
Otherwise, one of those 'gators you shed.....might get hit and fly up and nail a 4-wheeler...or worse.....one of us.......

Us truckers already do that...
The steering wheel holders...Not so much. -
That's the problem right there....
The ratio is way off....For every real trucker...there's a thousand CDL mill steering wheel holders......
I consider myself a fairly proficient driver....been through many a condition...but I hate going through a 'gator slalom.....
I'd rather be driving in black ice on the 80 at night, than that bull sheyat I drove through in West Texas last night....Stacked Passion Thanks this. -
Sadly enough if it doesn't involve eating or sitting around complaining...Most steering wheel holders aren't interested!
The line I hear most often from the idiots is..."It aint my #### truck so I aint gonna mess with it!!!"Lil'Devil Thanks this. -
My answer for that is CSA 2010......Time to thin the herd brother.....

If they don't want to listen and pay attention...they should be shown the gate......Lil'Devil, onelikeseabass and Big Don Thank this. -
Checking the tires by kicking them is a no no. I keep vise grips next to me in case of an emergency but usually I use it to hit the tires all the way around. You can hear the tone of a low tire compare to ones that are properly inflated. I also carry 45 feet of rubber airline to air up any low tire I may have and my air gauge.
THD, Stacked Passion, JustSonny and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've always used a hammer....It works well for the "fuel island" thump but I put a guage to all of them every week...Including the spare!
I will not run recaps either...Tractor or trailer!Stacked Passion, ironhand, Big Don and 2 others Thank this. -
It may not be theirs put I just wonder how they make a pay check..
-
Good question....They're always here complaining that they don't make enough money but from what I see every day out here they're getting paid more than they're worth!
-
This may be a little off-thread, but I wonder how often people pay for alignments when all they needed was to spend time making sure their tires had the recommended air pressure.
