They also have an add on GPS module now. They say they do not support it, but it works. It tells me basically the nearest town and the actual "as the crow flys" distance. Also, if you are using a delorme usb gps, like what comes with Streets & Trips, go to delorme's website and download the free serial emulator. It makes the gps work, even when Streets & Trips isn't running
and makes it so the gps works with multiple(3) programs/ports at the same time. This is a wonderful add on for DDL.

My company won't allow me to use it, they are thinking of going to a true paper-less logging system with Peoplenet. I have to have the printer and sign it and then redo it on what they want me to use in order to use it. The printer with the cold we have up here is the big sticking point, it has to be a laser to stand up to the cold. Then it needs a 1500 watt power supply (inverter).

My truck has a Rigmaster which hasn't worked in a very long time, it's inoperative now. I call it, depending on the day, either a Frigmaster or waste of resources(monetary and mechanic labor).:biggrin_25513:

I figure it's about time to move on.:biggrin_25516:

I have a canon iP1600 ink jet that was $50 2 1/2 years ago. I have been using it in the heat and cold and have zero problems with it. I don't use it when the printer is still cold, but after heating the inside of the truck up.

I am using an HP PSC1410v Printer, Copier, Scanner. I scan my reciepts in when I have time and keep pretty decent records with Drivers Daily Log. I also like the GPS add on.

BTW, I am using a small inverter with my printer and have not had any trouble, also no trouble due to temp either.

I had a Lexmark all in one in my truck that I bought for $46 about a year ago....it uses the same cartridge for color and B/W so I went and bought a HP F4140 for $70 that uses separate. I like it, very nice all in one unit.

Type in the information but keep your log updated. It will at least give you all the math answers and it will help you with split breaking etc. That's my humble opinion.

Better yet, go to work for a company that accepts ddl printed logs. That is my main thing I look for in a new company anymore.

I know one company that accepts them and many more would if the drivers take the right steps in getting it done and have the auditor contact me and I will explain for you :)> Seriously. I didn't listen at first, however I am learning to audit the guys/gals using drivers daily log closer :).

I am always one step ahead :)

I use a Lexmark Z735, very cheap, low power usage, and works quite well. Takes #1 L/M ink cartridge.
