KAREN,,,,the question is “ what is a decent rate”. Take your soapbox regarding tax implications elsewhere

Keep seeing job postings such as $300 plus HST. Would this be a driver Inc job?

I hear drivers at other companies bragging about they only pay 5% taxes at the end of year because they incorporate themselves but their not O/O. I don't understand how that could be legal in any way? It seems to be mainly one community doing this whiles there might be a few other following along. We're allowed to submit for meals at my company as drivers are giving a slight tax break there but that's about it. The usually 24% to 28% taxes are taking out of my cheques but at the end of the day I'm not looking over my shoulders.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Yes, Illegal. The CRA has a ruling defining these guys as “personal service contractors” so when they get caught now, it’s automatic 32% starting tax+interest+penalties and fees. My families accountants are registered CRA auditors, and they just got 900 cases to review. That’s ONE accounting office, the CRA is all over this now, and they need money so lol.Ol'Shusquatch and terryg247 Thank this.

The CRA didn’t have teeth before, now they have the “personal service contractor” ruling, and they’re swinging it like a broadsword. Expect to see articles on this in trucking magazines after this tax season. The liberals hate small business, contractors and consultants. Now they need money, bad time to be Driver Inc.Canadianhauler21 and magoo68 Thank this.
