Here is how I feel about it.
I wouldn't give IdleAire my DL #, they don't need it just to open an account for me to pay them for their services. I went about 3 rounds with the goober before he backed down and just entered 12345.............

I have a company issued ID card, and that's the only thing I am required to show them. Any shipper that has a problem with that, I will happily give them the 800 number so they can call in and confirm my ID. They have no need for my drivers license or other personal information.

AGREED. NO shipper, or receiver, should ask you for your drivers license as many have your Social Security Number on it.

There HAS to be a better way...hey, trucker ARE humans too!

Every time I have to Run a Wal-Mart DC to Store Load to get an Empty Trailer, and Certain DC's even just to get a MT Trailer off the lot I have to Give them my Driver's License and my Medical Card and they make a copy of and file it some where,

I Mean Every time i have only delivered to 38 DC's this entire Year and 10 of them have about 50 copies of my Driver's License and Medical Card

Whats funny is i have a Wal-Mart Employee Number and i would give it to them and they tell me its not good enough even though any DC across America can pull it up and see who i am, and when i got that employee ID i had to let them copy my Driver's license and Medical Card and go through their company orientation...

Whats really funny is after i did all that to get a Wal-Mart Employee ID they Deleted me from the computer after my ID went inn inactive after 60 days, and just issued it to another Driver, because they only use my ID when i haul a DC to Store load, which has only happen maby 3 times this year

And whats Really Funny if a Make a Scene about giving them my ID and they call US Xpress and say i was causing problems i will be removed from the Wal-Mart Account and not allowed back on.

The really funny thing is, we CAN make a difference in here! we can MAKE Wal-Mart and US Xpress listen to us and STOP this BS! But, we have people like my neighbor who go boating instead of doing anything! We deserve what we get IF we do NOTHING about it! US Xpress and Wal-Mart count on you to do NOTHING!!!

I don't like showing anything more than my company photo ID but good luck picking up a tank of hazmat chemicals without showing a d/l. My ss# is not on my CDL though.

i don't show my d/l to anybody for them to copy or write down. it has always been company id or truck number. and i have even been known to leave recievers/ shippers by signing "john hancock". they have no reason for this info. how many times have you been to a rec/ship and they can't find paperwork or something or there computer is messed up so it holds you up for a long time. i don't want these people having any of my info to "accidently" lose.

All these shippers/receivers need to verify identity is a drivers# and truck /trailer#. They can call the company and validate the info is correct.
If that is not sufficient, maybe like Burky said they need to issue company ID cards.
Wiseone is right,If all people do is complain. But never get up and do anything about it. Nothing ever changes.:thumbleft:
