If it's not signed they are supposed to ask for your driver's licences/proper Id.

Many do not sign it so they will be carded to help prevent ID theft, however it does not usually work as many clerks do not care if the company gets ripped off or not. What the clerks don't understand is it makes our dollar amount we pay for something go up!

Really??? Wow!!!! Going back into Canada from the USA was always a hassle of stupid questions and showing all the proper ID as usual. I'm amazed you got through so easily! Hm... it is a tad scary, isn't it?

Quite a few of the larger companies up here are now issuing photo ID to all their drivers and everyone who works with them (border, shippers, receivers, etc.) are instructed to instantly call the company if the driver doesn't have proper ID on him at all times. I can see this costing a fortune, however, with driver turnover so don't know about this one...

When I get set up with a company I will insist on written company policy on this issue, and will keep a copy of this written policy with me, to show shippers... show my license to verify identity? Sure of course, but to have it scanned or copied? Not unless the company I work for can provide me with documentation that this is legally required for that shipment... or as someone else suggested , unless the person copying my ID, will do in like for me, in case of future ID theft. And yes, I have been through that in the past. Never again.

Somebody is spreading some false info out over the CB radios maybe. In order to steal your identity, they need your SOCIAL SECURITY number to set up a set of fake Ids !! After 9-11, companies must establish a way to track down who had accessed what area, so if someone were to plant a bomb, or biological weapon, they need only to look at the log sheet of who came in, what time, and their DRIVERS LICENSE number so they can run a check on the computer to pull up an image of what their suspect looks like. Recording your drivers license number will discourage would-be terrorist from sneaking into a plant to do some major damage. If I was a terrorist, I'd try to sneak into a grocery distribution warehouse, and poison the food supply by spreading a biological agent. I'd spread terror and get some publicity by planting a bomb to kill as many as I can. If you seriously believe someone can steal your identity with just your CDL number, maybe you should consider getting a fake ID just to show them something. Fake IDs are sold in the black market; you just start asking around where ever shady characters (drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, etc...) hang out to ply their trade. Eventually, the word will find its way to the right people who wants your business. But you're all paranoid to believe someone can take over your identity with just your CDL number !! You've got medical coverage; maybe you should schedule to see a therapist / psychiatrist about this delusional paranoia !!

Yeah but I was loving it since I didn't want to be held up for any stupid reason! I went through the hold up at the airport one time and I thought of all people you hold me to question! She tried and tried to get me to say something wrong or do something wrong I think, however everything was in plain written english on paper versus e-mail what my intent was when going into Canada!

Grrrrr I did make a mistake and follow the car, all the others was truck drivers (it wasn't really busy).:biggrin_255:

maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension skills.
i dont see anywhere in my post where i said anything about "going off" on the people who work the windows or anything about being 'offended'.

I am sorry, wasn't claiming you was going off on anyone just stating I don't see where going off on any guard etc doing their job would be appropriate. Not stating you was or wasn't just stating to others they should not go off on them for doing their jobs.:biggrin_25525:
