I was a company driver for melton from april of 07 to Sept. They stated at the orientation, you would get 3000 miles wkly. :biggrin_25510: I started getting shorter hauls and sitting longer. My average for the weeks 2000 miles per week.:biggrin_25516:
Every Company promises you the world just to work for them. :biggrin_25511:

RESPECT?????? MY HUSBAND IS A DRIVER AND A GOOD DRIVER AT THAT, ONE THAT HAS NOT EVER HAD A TICKET IN OVER 20 YEARS IF DRIVING, VERY, VERY LUCKY I SHOULD SAY, BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MELTON...MY HUSBAND HAS JUST RECENTLT HAD A DEATH IN THE FAMILY AND THEY DID NOT GET HIM HOME, COULD NOT CARE LESS...
I KNOW, I TALKED TO THE OFFICE PERSONAL AFTER HE GOT NO RESULTS FROM THEM, I WAS TALKED TO LIKE I WAS WAY BELOW THEM AND I ASSURE YOU THAT I AM NOT. I PROBALLY MAKE MORE THAN MOST OF THE WOMEN IN THE OFFICE. I WORK FOR A AWESOME BROKERAGE FIRM, BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR 10 YEARS AND WE PAY OUR CARRIER, NEVER LATE AT ALL, MEMBER OF TIA BROKERS ASSOCIATION ALSO, SO I AM VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOW HOW TO TALK WITH ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE...MELTON IS A DISGRACE FOR MY HUSBAND TO WORK FOR AND HE IS TRYING TO GET BACK HOME NOW.
MATTER OF FACT, HE IS GOING TO HELP ME, I'M TOO BUSY TO DO IT ALL MYSELF AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE HIM HOME...THEY ALSO WANTED HIM TO TAKE A RUN AND SIT ON IT FOR 3 DAYS OUT IN OR AND WITH NO PAY??? MELTON, TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT AND THEY WILL APPRECIATE YOU BUT AS IT STANDS, YOU ARE BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY EVER...WHAT GOOD IS .41 CENTS PER MILE, IF YOU DON'T GET ANY MILES...

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL, THEY PROMISED MY HUSBAND ALL THIS MONEY AND GREAT MILES AND HOME TIME...HE HAS NOT MADE IT HOME IN OVER 24 DAYS AND HIS FAMILY MEMBER JUST PASSED, THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT HIM...ALSO, HIS PAY STINKS TOO! EVEN THOUGH I AM A BROKER, I HAVE YOUGH WEEKS TOO CAUSE I TRY TO GIVE MOST OF THE MONEY TO THE CARRIER'S HAULING, THATS WHY WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 21 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG AND VERY GOOD CREDIT.
MELTON IS JUST NOT A GOOD COMPANY THAT ANYONE SHOULD WAN'T TO GO TO WORK AT...THAT IS UNLESS, YOU WAN'T NO MILES, NO MONEY, NO HOME TIME AND WAN'T NO RESPECT.
WHEN I TOLD THE LADIES IN THE OFFICE, PLEASE GET HIM HOME FOR FAMILY MEMBERS FUNERAL, I WAS DIRECTED TO THE FLOWER GIRL THAT SENDS OUT FLOWERS...ARE THEY KIDDING ME?????????
SUCH A DISGRACE TO EVEN BE OPERATING IN THIS MANNER AND THE DISPATCHERS, THEY ARE A JOKE, DON'T KNOW THEIR ROUTES TO PLAN, THEY COULD HAVE VERY EASILY GOT HIM A LOAD FROM OKLAHOMA HEADED TO FL AND HE COULD HAVE DROPPED OFF IN BIRMINGHAM TERMINAL AND SOMEONE ELSE TOOK IT BUT NO, THEY SEND HIM TO AR, HE MISSED THE FUNERAL...SO THANKS MELTON, WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOU A LOT!

ok, i did a little search and you've been all over this forum bashing the crap out of melton. I find that a bit ridiculous. Second it's extremely rude to type in all freekin caps. Thirdly i find it extremely hard to believe they treated you like crap or treated him like crap trying to get him home. I've been here over a year now and have never been talked down to or treated like crap. I always get home on time. I have found that people on this forum that talk crap about a company leave out some seriously big pieces of info and make the company look bad in hopes that maybe a couple people might read it and not go there.

The only reason a company would talk down to you or treat you like crap is if your being a piece of crap to them and demanding things.

Truck drivers are getting ridiculous now a days. You have to realise that theres only so much freight. Of that freight its only going certain places. You can't drive to any town in the country and theres freight there going to your home or any exact specific place. They do the best they can to get you home. They'll give you loads getting you towards your home and or to another driver with a load going close to your home to get you there. If noone is going there then your SOL and have to take what you can get to get home. You can't fault the company. They have no reason to not get you home on time. They want you to be happy. Why the hell would they purposely not get you home on time, or treat you rudely? It costs losts of money to get someone in and through orientation. They do what they can to make the drivers happy. But the drivers, like me, have to have an understanding of how the system works, and not demand this that and everything else. This is a business and they look at the bottom line. If you say someone died in my family dead head me home if theres no freight, with the fuel prices you don't think they look at that and say "It's cheaper to fire him than to take that kind of loss". If it was your business and someone told you to send em home and it was gonna cost you 1k or more because the distance was so great what would you tell them? i seriously doubt you would pay for them to go home even if you say here you would.

So im willing to bet were missing some info here about the entire situation, and i woulad appreciate no more posts written entirely in caps.

    Thanks.

Not sure what you are after here???Seen some ok lots of bashing... Big Picture folks... Melton has 1000 trucks aprox. 980 drivers, Frieght for about 700 trucks so you figure what the problem is...Now I have been here at Melton for almost four years. Home time is not a problem most of the time, Yes sometimes it is hard to get home but hey thats the life of a truck driver. Now if you want to be home on a certian day then you should find a diffrent line of work 'cuz you are going to be verry unhappy with any company, not just Melton. Yes miles have been going down hill the last couple of years. Why? Well as I see it, to many trucks in fleet so we all get less miles. You start off good 'cuz they want to see what you will and won't do. Standard at any trucking company.Once again I say if you don't understand this get out of trucking all togeather. And Yes I am tired of whinning crying need my diapers changed 'cus I miss my mommy pukes out here on the road. We would all be better off if you were GONE. Sorry if this offends you, if it does then you are who I am talking about.Go home and stay there, I do not want or need you working and burning miles I can run, because you are too lazy to find a job you might be happy with....:biggrin_25511: I do not care if you like me, I am not here to win friends, only pass info along so you can make an informed decision. Yes life sucks right now but some time soon we hope it will turn around and we will all be getting better miles. BIG picture folks... Open your eyes!!!!. Tell me whats wrong with what I say. don't just mouth off prove me wrong! Stand up and deliver...

    Good luck and good truckin

From reading her posts, Michele sounds like a Demanding, Nagging Housewife. She probably called Melton Ops, demanded that her husband be home on time and surely didn't plead her case in the most professional manner. I used to be a supervisor for a Federal Government Office....I would get spouses calling me all the time demanding I do this or that for their significant other. I would usually say "Lady, if yor Husband doesn't have the balls to call or come to me himself, than why should I accomodate him?"

I'm sorry, but Melton or any other company for that matter does what it can to accomodate almost 1000 drivers. Not everyone is going to get their way and it's a sad fact of life. I get ticked off at my DM on a weekly basis and when I do, I go to the bunk, lay down for a few, smoke a cigarette and get moving. The DM is not the one planning anything for their drivers. The CSR's and Load Planners are responsible for that....the DM is a Middle Man between the CSR and the drivers to handle on road issues and issues with the load. Also they are your direct supervisor. Yes, the DM can work with the CSR if need be to accomodate a driver, but personally, if I was in the spot where I had an angry wife talking down to me...I would be less than accomodating.

rikdev, I like your reply as well.....you seem to be a no BS type like myself. Maybe I'll see ya on the road or at a terminal.....

Hi, thanks for speaking up for the nagging house wife...just a little note for you out thereon the so called rude gentleman who called me this...
I am a broker and a good one at that, work for a fine company, very good credit, don't deal with anything but government loads, so I don't have time for this baby talk.
By the way, my husband came home, I told him to quit, then a week later, we went to go register for a car at a casino and he won 73,682.00...
He's finding something else to do, we paid all the bills off and frankly I like having him at home...
I can think of lot's of things for the handyman to do. lol...:yes2557:
as for him buying his own truck with that , as a friend suggusted, no way hosey, it's too tough right now for the little man... we are not stupid...:biggrin_2551:

Have a great Day and now...you know the rest of the story...:biggrin_25525:
