Overall how did they treat the co. drivers? I live in Houston and am thinking of going to them but will not put up with being lied to and being treated with disrespect. I don't want to have to fight to get home either. Just looking for an honest opinion of the co. and you sound like you would give that. Thanks for the good attitude.

    Thank you.
Since I am no longer with Melton and taken a job that is more or less local I will speak freely on the matter.
We really enjoyed our time with Melton. They always treated us as fair as they could in my opinion. Some things that happened I wasn't all too thrilled about. But it definitely could have been worse.
We worked for them for a little over 8 months.
I still maintain Melton is one of the better companies to work for.
For example, they are very well organized. I work for a company now that is the most unorganized organization I've ever seen so it put's Melton in perspective.

I've heard other people say different things about Melton that were more or less bad experiences but most of the time it was a product of their own doing.
They run some of the most well maintained equipment on the road. It's very well maintained. I sure miss our T-600, broke my heart when I gave up that truck.
The key with Melton is your driver manager. If you have a good driver manager things will be good. Ours was really good. He always treated us great, within his ability. I won't lie and say things were alaways perfect but that's anywhere. I still liked working for them.
I would avoid female driver managers if possible, they tend to be a little catty at times, among other things, that's just my opinion, nothing against women.
As far as getting us home, he always got us home very close to when we wanted to and we live in Florida. No matter where we were in the country it always seemed to work out. I remember getting a load from Seattle back to Florida to get home. So that's awesome. However, there will be times as there were for us where they would ask us to take a load that was hot and rearrange our hometime a time or two. We figure that if we take care of our driver manager, he'll take care of us and he did.
I guess if you can be a little flexible things seem to work out in the end.

In the end, if I were to go back over the road, Melton would be the one for me. You get used to the people and get to know the people at the terminals and it get's kind of like family, I like that.
I hope this was helpful and good luck with what ever you do.
If there's anything else you want to know just ask and I'll tell you what I know to be fact.

I'm scheduled for orientation Jan 19th # melton. They (the recruiters) have kept in touch with me weekly ever since we started talking. They (Dana & Leslie) have been very nice through out the whole application/interview process. It occurs to me that at least recruiting certainly has it's duck's in a row, which tends to bode well for the rest of the company. I'm not looking forward to going back out on the road again but I've been off the road for a few years so I kinda have to start all over again. They have impressed me thus far & I consider my standards pretty high. I'll try to keep everyone posted as to my experience. BTW: I will be completing orientation in Tulsa.

Any update from anyone with Melton? I was told by a recruiter that miles were averaging 1500 per week. I would think miles would start to pick up soon. I also read where the trucks were auto shift, is this true? What about inverters, do the trucks have them or can you put your own in? What kind of trailers do they pull-- spread, regular tandom? 53' or 48'?
I'm just looking for some answers that I wasnt able to find in the post here. Thanks.

Actually, ALL the new trucks are auto shift. The t660's and stuff? Ya there auto shift :biggrin_25525:.

Right now all the trailers are 48', i havent heard anything about us going to 53, i hope not, 53 is excessive.

Same thing that happened with me. I liked the company OK, just way too much time sitting and not earning money. I make anywhere from 2 to 3 times as much running locally with a rock bucket now.
