1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I hear both sides of the arguments.... Driver's are screaming that they are a good driver, but can't seem to find a company to hire them. Then their is the company side that says that those self proclaimed good driver's are actually are relatively bad driver's!

So that brings me to ask the question....

What do you want? What do you desire?

I am thinking about buying a couple more trucks & trailers. Of course, I won't be able to operate them myself. So I will have to hire driver's. Nothing is definate yet.... So I when & if it does, I want to be able to offer some good driver's a happy median.

    It will be flatbed work....

The trucks will be governed at 70 mph....

Driver's will earn 1.5 days off for every 7 days out....

Driver's must be willing to stay out a mininum of 3-4 weeks...

Driver's will be required to run all 48 states including NYC on rare ocassions....

No forced dispatch.... You can refuse every load & make nothing... Or you can run you arse off as long as you remain legal....

Driver's must be 25 years old...

    One year verifiable experience...

    Good MVR...

No felonies in the past 10 years...

    CDL of course...

Current DOT physical (I will pay for if your is about to expire or need a new one)...

    Must speak & read ENGLISH...

    Must have a TWIC card...

Now this is not a job posting, I'm posting this to give you an idea of what to expect from me if I acquire more equipment.

Now what do you want? Mileage pay? Percentage? Bonuses? A big knot on the side of the head? Tarp pay? Detention? Layover? A big knot on the other side of your head? :biggrin_2556:

I have heard a lot of complaints out there about companies.

What I want is the amount of miles that is legal.

At the least, good pay for those miles.

Good, dependable equipment, and if I had to refuse a load, don't go loco and starve me out of the business.

Oh, and how bout a Gym membership at Golds nationwide so I can work out whenever 5 days a week on my off time. How bout it?!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm percentage would work--maybe a max mt miles limit after which there is a small pay
i would say at least 3 yrs exp--wouldnt that help your insurance rate as well?
maybe throw a tiny fuel/performance bonus in as well--doesnt cost that much and looks inticing as well
the way you have it laid out looks pretty good--it is more than alot of others are offering in the way of time off anyways

Redd, I know I'm new to the civilian side of trucking, but I think we all want what everyone wants... Respect!!! I think that what you're asking for is more than fair. I think that when you get drivers that meet your qualifications, they would want your respect (After earning it) and to know that they are allowed to be human and not machine. Late loads happen! While it shouldn't happen all the time, if it does happen once every so often people want to know that they're not going to get an arse chewing.

As far as what you propositioned, I think a respectable mileage pay paid on practical miles is fair. Also, bonuses that is achievable. Of course as a flatbed driver, it would be nice to get tarp pay. I also think that getting a decent layover and detention pay after a few hours of sitting would be fair. And the last think is good working equipment. Knowing that you can drive down the road safely will play a big part in peace of mind.

I know it would be a dream company to most if someone would just take care of their people and pay them what their worth. Obviously people need to earn all of the fore mentioned pays and allowances. If you were able to keep the company small enough to maintain that family like atmosphere, I think you would make plenty of money and have very little turn over.

I don't mind the city.... But it will not be forced dispatch. Would driver's go into the city if they got paid an additional NYC bonus?

I'm toying with the idea of paying hub miles.... But not sure as of yet. It can be abused easily.

    $0.15 cpm?

It will be 04 or newer. And I'm anal with my equipment....

    That would make you happy?

You want 5 days a week off?

You & I think a like. It must be because the mid thirties thing...

Anyhow, The layover & detention pay.... Currently If I get stuck, I don't get paid. I don't have the muscle to collect.... So what do ya'll think would be a fair layover & detention pay?

If i did this, I'd like to get good drivers, pay them well, & keep em around. But I can't pay them with phantom money....
