What are all the GPS users going to do when the Russians shoot all the satellites from outer space, rendering your newfangled GPS useless????
Our company goes to the same places all the time. We have a "driver" who cannot remember how to get to these places without his GPS. And he's been to these places a couple dozen times. He called me the other night needing directions to Lewistown Pa, a place he's literally been to at least a dozen times in the last month. Stunned, I asked why he needed directions, as the plant has been in the same place since before I was even born, it has not moved..... His response: "my GPS quit". I cannot make this up. Drives the boss nuts too
Drivers, why are we using GPS units?

When it comes to GPS...
Remember GPS is a TOOL, not the RULE!
You are still responsible for all moves you make in a truck.
If the GPS says. "Go straight on Main street" and there's a posted no truck sign, do NOT go down Main Street.
GPS units are only as smart as the people who program them. A lot of GPS units (regardless of whether or not it's designed for trucks) are programmed by people who have never seen the inside of a truck.Voyager1968 Thanks this. -
Um, how many dogs do you have in that truck if you need more than one leash?

You did not pay 300 But you paid 139 for one. Before gps, how did the old timers get around? Just saying

Question for the GPS followers....i delivered today in west Columbia sc...coming 75 south out of KY to TN. I have to take 640 split around Knoxville. My GPS is screaming take 640 west to 75 south, instead of the right way 640 east to 40 east. If I hadn't looked at the map and just been a brainless tool and followed my GPS I would of ended up in Nashville. What would those of you who only follow gps and nothing else done??? I'm guessing realized you took wrong turn and turned around somewhere
full speed and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
I probably wouldn't use a GPS that routes me 200 miles in the wrong direction. But I'm pretty sure yours didn't either.

I made a route in my GPS (Garmin Nuvi Truck Edition) from Lexington, KY to Columbia, SC and it routed me in the Knoxville area as I-75, I-640 East, I-40 East. Sounds like you have a crappy gps.

My did. Its company GPS on peoplenet

My point is if I hadn't looked at a map or know that area I would have been screwed.
