There is one driver I net has three GPS units, one primary and two backups. We were in Georgetown, KY fueling. Asked me where I was headed, told him S.C. I asked him he said Florida, Ocala. I said a run straight down 75. He said hell if I know, GPS tells me where to go.

I haven't gone for the phone service yet (trying to go the other way), got a prepaid one recently and put it in a waterproof case, small enough to fit in my pocket. I consider it to be a mobile payphone, last resort when all else fails (I would call it an emergency phone, but the way minutes have an expiration date, it would be like renting a fire extinguisher that its service rep came out to drain every so often, just so they could charge for a refill, I don't think they care if it's an emergency that my phone work or that I paid for it alreadyso yeah, it is like a phone service, disguised as a stand alone phone). At least with a stand alone gps, I get my money's worth (in theory, we'll see if it lasts).
It wouldn't surprise me if these phoney phone service people, are the ones who ripped out all the payphones, so nobody could find one. My phone's going to say hello to my sledge hammer as soon as my job becomes predictable enough to get by without it (might as well follow suit)I did see an actual emergency phone that doesn't expire (though is more limited in use), I'll switch to that, when the time comes, for what it's worththey can stick their extended service up someone else's smart apps for how dumbed down the logic is in ruining a simple phone call for me.Last edited: Sep 8, 2014

its amazing to me how scared some truckers are of a simple GPS.... Not sure if you understand this or not but the Rand GPS has EVERYTHING that their atlas has in it, so if it is wrong in the GPS its wrong in the atlas, however you can update the GPS, you can only get an updated atlas when the next years comes out.
Back in the day you had to hand crank a pump to get your fuel, there were no fuel card or anything like that, do you hate fuel pumps that pump for you as well?? Would you rather pay cash out of our pocket for fuel and get reimbursed later??
