    Well if they run hard and fast. They could lose some weight too.

    Normally I would go back to shipper and rework the weight.

    Or move that 5th wheel one slot off the drives towards the trailer weight wise.

    If that does not work and shorting fuel doesnt either then buy the permits and be done with it.;

    Ask yourself this. Is the fine for 400 over axle cheaper than a 500 pound permit in one state?

    And one final thought, it's nice you can put 40K on the drives. But why would you do that? Don't you have a spread you can put 40 K on back there?

    Yes rgb/dd. I'm running 105k on 6 axles.
    If over weight , they can void my permit and fine me for 105-80 = 25k over.

    You know, I used my guage at the shipper and saw it was close, and I just made a hasty decision and told the operator "looks good". Never again.

    Yea we had a thread on here about that other LS driver that happened to in Virginia. That’s why yesterday I had a tridem weight gauge installed.... I ran into this issue when on the tridem I permitted 54k and ended up having 54500 on there.... are you going to coshocton, Ohio??

    Oh now that would not be good.

    I lean towards the wee permit for that over on the drives then.

    Ive been fined before I think once they could only write to 134500 where the scale failed at that number while still adding up. I had a 99K which they totally laughed at until tears came out. Fines came to about 3000. Then I was told Maryland was open should I pass that way. I managed not to be around there that horrible day. We think the theoratical weight would be closer to 160K gross. however the tractor was totaled and the chassis damaged but heard nothing from the crane man or from Europe so they must have managed it ok. (Particularly the crane man... he would have something to say for sure once that thing got ahold of that box...)

    If I was the trucker I am now then I would never had left the dock that day. It was one of the heavest I have ever been and probably really stupid and outrageously dangerous. I tell that story now and then in abbreviated form because I told it a number of times. Its just something I am sorry happened at all. It goes to show what could happen when you send a 3 month newbie with no training whatsoever to wing it and load up on meat somewhere in Virginia for export to europe.

    I say this much, that 60's era mack tractor did a fantastic job, but it was totaled when we got it back to Baltimore. I don't even want to read the damage report on that thing end to end, I already have a pretty good idea.

    Well which scale are you worried about in Kentucky?

    Most times they’re closed at night.... assuming you can run at night
