I recall reading a post in this subject a while back where someone else had this very problem where some knucklehead clerk at his state's DMV never processed it after it was sent, causing him an enormous headache.
The more moving parts you add to any machine, the more chances it has of breaking.

I thought the 35-ish years being licenced would do that.

Up here (Canada, eh (I was sure the maple leaf would be a give-away)), in most of the country the licence for semi-truck OTR is a Class 1. -
So riddle me this. I see adverts around Edmonton for Class AZ drivers. What kind of license is that?

Ontario equivalent of Class 1.
Trust Ontario to over-complicate things.
In Ontario, there are 12 different classes of licences. Each one qualifies you to drive a different type of vehicle.

I agree about the moving parts, but really how often does this actually happen?
This is the reason why I have considered not renewing my cdl, the medical card crap is useless to me. -
