12 years. I took the perks for two and slowly stopped. Soon I was dumping them down the toilet. Finally told the VA to stop sending them altogether. All told it took about three months. I still take 800 Mg of Motrin three times a day. The VA kept sending me 90 tabs a month for almost a year. I must have dumped $10,000. worthAnd yes it was hard to dump them, but I knew I didn't need that monkey on top of everything else.

i'm sorry that it happened to you. but i disagree with you even on the point where you say that "there is no medical marijuana"...do some research look at some documentaries, how med. MJane helps them live a productive life... one of those ppl was a mother she had some rare disease that she couldn't say nothing without studdering very bad, walk or move her arms, when i saw the documentary it looked as if she was retarted. but when she smoked she was normal, speaking ok, taking care of her kids, which she wouldn't be able to do.
of course there is going to be asswipes that are just potheads and get a script and smoke. but there ARE REAL medical uses for MaryJane. -
I've been saying that for 40+ years !!!!!!!

Actually I just get annoyed by people that look for loopholes however they can find them. Have a nice time with your hunt, and if you do decide to circumvent the rules, I hope you get what is deserved, good, or bad. I'm done with this thread. -
This is really a goner of a thread! The OP was looking for loopholes. What that saint of a friend of his doesn't think about is if the OP doesn't actually quit the meds and has an accident both the OP and his buddy are goners when the lawyers get done with them.
I didn't bother to follow the links to methadone. If the label says do not operate... then how much plainer does it have to be? I have a script for Hydrocodone but I rarely use it but as most of you know I'm a tad bit disabled from driving right now. BUT the label says DO NOT! So I won't if I ever get back in the seat! Why do you ask do I not take this med?
The story goes like this: Back in the early 70's we were having this little "police action" in a land far far away! All of the military hospitals in theater and close to it had this never ending supply of morphine! I had a V17 line truck fall on be in the field while on Okinawa. By the time I was put in the ambulance the first thing they did was dose me with a combat syringe of dear ole morphine! Then more during my weeks stay in the hospital and the monkey had a grip! The Army was real lax on their pain meds back then! Getting that crap out of my system was a fight I'd rather not go through again! In my last little hospital visit when they did that oh so fun brain surgery I told them no morphine and guess what! They did! I knew the syndromes and threw a fit! I then got a red allergy bracelet to wear and the nurses stayed away from me with any pain meds that could be close to being addictive! Yes they do have them! In fact they actually cost more! But that's why I stay as far away from any med that can become addictive! Yes that bottle is still in the cabinet but I only take them when pain gets to bad. That bottle has been in there almost a year now and it was only a 30 count script!
Now as to the Medical Mary Jane! Or actually to ANY "legal" drug that your doctor writes for you and this is to the OP also. It doesn't matter if that doctor writes it for you! IF it is labeled "DO NOT OPERATE" yada yada yada on it you do not need to be operating it! PERIOD! You made every excuse or looked for every loop hole you could to justify that use of a prescribed med!
Let me put it to you so you understand and I'll be blunt as I usually am as I don't care about being RUDE! And I can be polite to thse who deserve but you ain't there anymore!
You are driving on the roads with MY family and loved ones and friends! You have an accident and hurt or worse kill one of these people and I find out that you were taking a drug like methadone, I'll sue YOU and the owner of that truck and the horse you rode in on so badly you'll never be able to buy a piece of Bazooka! Your world as you know it will change and I can bet you a dime to your donut that if anyone else were to find out about your "problem" after the fact what I just told you will happen! This IS a law suit society we live in and the first words out of anyone that sees a truck in their future will jump on thqat bandwangon so fast you won't see the paperwork that going to slam you till you're looking up off the floor with the WT heck look on your face!
Can you understand that? Is it plain enough this way? Or do you want to go looking for another loophole? You didn't want to hear the others giving you GOOD information! You are reciting the addicts mantra with that line I'm detoxing! No, you are NOT dexoting! You are not detoxing untill you throw the drug away and walk away! It's NOT that hard! Once you man up to it and quit the whiney crybaby 3 million step route! JUST DO IT! How do I know? That story has more to it than I'll tell now! But I maned up and kicked the monkey off and did it with out having to use something else! It took a week of my leave time but that's life! You're taking 2 years if I read it right? HMMMMM?
OK, that part is done but to add another thing to the "legal" drugs talk! You all know I went through the cancer deal. Well I was actually prescribed marijuana. Yep Gooberment dealer and gooberment rolled 20 to a pack pot! I never rolled anything this big in my pot days! BUT It actually did help with the pain of radiation and chemo. I wasn't getting "high" from it , ok, oh heck yes I was BUT not to be getting high! It helped with the pain AND I did gain some of the 35 pounds I lost back! And the script had refills but the one was enough! Lasted me longer than what the doctor had prescribed! I don't do drugs, pills, even vitamins well! I really don't. I even have a problem with aspirin! Heck I even gave up drinking except for a beer or two a monthk and just for the taste! Don't bring a Bud around as that stuff has no taste! LOL
And now another BUT! Just because a doctor prescribed this drug for me does NOT mean I can jump into a CMV and drive down the road! EVEN if I pay a lawyer to read all of the FMCSA rules it ain't legal! IDC what you "want" to think, that doctor does NOT supersede the FMCSA! If it's on the list as a no no and a doctor prescribes it does not make it right! I even had to wait until the pot had cleared my system before I could get back in the truckafter treatments. The hard thing for some people to realize is if you took the drug while off duty for a medical problem and go back to work and take a urinalysis and fail because of a banned substance that you didn't put on the list then you're in for a fun time with getting things straightened out! BUT even if I put marijuana on the list before I took the drug test I would fail it because it's a banned substance. The law is not a fine line to walk in this matter, it's a sidewalk with cracks that will kill you when you fall in to them and a career like trucking has some cracks so big that when you fall in them you won't find a ladder tall enough to climb out with.
OK another RTO rant finished and now for the results!TruckerDragon Thanks this. -

You my friend, are kinder than I. My family is protected by smith & wesson, I have no qualms about prison or needle when my family is involved. -
