Bingo, I heroin addicts can't be trusted to man a grill at McDonald's let alone operate an 80k LB death trap.

Operating any vehicle on the highway comes with responsibilities, especially a commercial vehicle and even more so in an 18 wheeler! You have the potential risk of taking someone's life every time you get on the road in any vehicle and anything that would increase this risk should be avoided if at all possible. Just because it may not show up on a test don't make it ok. Alcohol doesn't show up these drug test, does that make it ok to drink and drive a truck? Heck no!

This may sound crazy to some of you, but when you've seen so many lives lost on the roads it gets to you. I understand the reason people have to take things like methadone, but it's not meant to take all your life to keep off other stuff. If so what's the point! Use it as you have to and get that part of your life straight. Once your clean, then think about being a trucker.

I haven't researched it all, but I am sure the DOT says pretty much the same thing about any drug that inhibits your ability to operate machinery. Simply put, if you are taking anything that makes it difficult to perform your job safely, find a different job.

The key word here is 'ANY'.

    It's just not CMV's, it's 4-wheelies as well.

How many fatalities have been caused by 4-wheelies, compared to big rigs?
Even by percentage we are in the minority, by far.

And a 2,000 pound car has the same potential to kill someone as does an 80k 18 wheeler.

Well of course, we are much more experienced and trained as drivers than the average 4-wheeler driver. So they are more likely to crash also there is more of them so the odds of that are greater. However, that does not mean you should be less responsible for avoiding dangers behind the wheel. You put the same driver in the same conditions and have a crash. Let's say slam into a parked car stuck in traffic while going 60MPH for example. Once in a rig and once in a little car and tell me which wreck caused more damage?

I'm just saying be careful out there. Don't be taking drugs and getting behind the wheel just because it's won't show up in a test.
