You know that a government subsidy is a taxpayer subsidy, right?

How about everybody that's on welfare get off welfare?

No bailouts Air Canada, GM, Chrysler, or the Unions.

    No individual welfare either.

    That actually would work.

    Sebastian:

Are you looking for adventure or a new place to live? That would dictate how you come to Canada.

Driving in Canada is not easy. Hard winters (-40 C), lots of bad and skinny roads. And hours of service that allow you to work more in one week than most people work in two. I don't mind the hours since I only work 2.5-3 weeks at a time. But as a company driver you will be expected to fill your logbook if there is work.

Most of the companies that hire from overseas, are doing it because Canadians don't want to work for them. For good reason.

Manitoulin is good to international drivers. Many of the LMO qualified companies I know of (Westcan, Canada Cartage/Direct, Kindersley) pay their British hires less than the Canadians for the same work. Manitoulin pays on par.
You will have to spend at least 3/4 of the month on extra-provincial trips to qualify for status in 2 years.
This does keep me and my husband sitting at home during the slower times (ice break up in the north) to be sure the international hires are meeting requirements.
    No grudges.

    Thank you for answer Freightlinerbob,
But can I ask you, what trucker is, if don't like the adventure...driving only for money is lost trucker, and I also see when drivers working only for money or for passion. I have one speed more. Like a child I dream about become a lorry driver.
I don't scare of the winter time,we have a to much warm days on the south,Spain or Portugal??
You speak about roads in Canada,.. did you ever been in Italy, out of the hi-ways are very bad roads, the badast in EU,belive me. The situation changing, but very slowly.
Actually,I'm driving "frigo",controlled temperature, the fresh fruits and vegetables all around Italy and EU. And I can tell the one true, sometimes, if the day has 25 hours, we will drive 25 hours, sometimes is good, but sometimes we are going over the limits. Without fairy tales, the life and driving isn't always simply. And I accepting the canadian challange. After two-three years I will speak, where is better, In Italy or in Canada. Now is to early.
I am not disperated trucker, I have my job, My past and my future. I want to go in Canada, work only like truck driver, not like "pizzaiolo" in restaurant. And then, who knows, life is life.
On my profil picture you can see my truck and I'm proud.
If do you have some real contact, with serious companies, I'll come and speak with their on my bad English.
On my profil I'll put also my mail and cell. phone.
    Take care wherever you go

    Sebastian:

    I googled:

"foreign driver recruiting Canada" and got a bunch of info.

I can't give you much more info because:

    I'm not a company driver.

I'm a contractor because I don't want to work for most if not all companies.

I currently think there is only one company worth working for and I work for them now. They aren't hiring and don't hire without a referral.

One problem with driving in Canada is that there are very significant differences in the cost of living, between various areas. But since a driver can live just about anywhere and do this job, the pay often reflects the lower cost region.

You will pay about 40% income tax, which is likely lower than anything I the EU, from what I've read. Many Eastern Europeans have come here and done very well in trucking. I'm pretty sure that in most cases to be a truck driver anywhere and to succeed at it one has to have one hell of a work ethic. And yes I've seen some EU trucking videos on YouTube, you are right the roads are pretty skinny in some places too.

    Goof luck.
